Wheeler County is a county located in the central part of the U.S. state of Georgia. In 2020, about 7,471 people lived here. The main town and county seat is Alamo.

History
Wheeler County is named after Joseph Wheeler. He was a general who fought for the Southern states during the American Civil War. The idea to create the county was suggested on August 14, 1912. It officially became a county on November 5, 1912.
Geography
The U.S. Census Bureau says that Wheeler County covers a total area of 300 square miles. About 295 square miles of this is land. The remaining 4.8 square miles (1.6%) is water.
Most of Wheeler County is located near the Little Ocmulgee River. Another part of the county is close to the Oconee River. Both of these rivers are part of the larger Altamaha River system.
