Key Events of the 50s BC
- Around 59 BC, three powerful Roman leaders – Julius Caesar, Pompey, and Marcus Licinius Crassus – formed a secret alliance called the First Triumvirate. They worked together to control the Roman Republic.
- The Gallic Wars (58–49 BC) saw Julius Caesar lead the Roman army to conquer most of Gaul (modern-day France). He even traveled to Britain twice!
