The Arlesheim District covers an area of about 96.24 square kilometers (37.16 sq mi). This is roughly the size of 13,000 football fields!
A big part of the land, about 28.9%, is used for farming. Another 28.9% is covered by forests. The largest part, 40.7%, is developed with buildings and roads. A small amount, 1.2%, is rivers or lakes.
Most of the developed area includes homes and other buildings (21.3%). Roads and other transport areas make up 9.3%. Parks and sports fields cover 4.1% of the land.

Religious Groups
In 2000, about 34.8% of the people in Arlesheim District were Roman Catholic. Another 35.5% belonged to the Swiss Reformed Church.
Smaller groups included members of the Eastern Orthodox Church (1.10%), the Christian Catholic Church of Switzerland (0.46%), and other Christian churches (2.86%). There were also people who followed Judaism (0.19%) and Islam (3.19%). Some people were Buddhist or Hindu. About 17.55% of the population did not belong to any church.
