Assala Mostafa Hatem Nasri (Arabic: أصالة مصطفى حاتم نصري), known simply as Assala (Arabic: أصالة), is a famous singer from Syria. She was born on May 15, 1969.

Assala's Early Life and Music Career
Assala grew up in Damascus, Syria. Her father, Mostafa Nasri, was a well-known composer and singer. Assala started singing when she was just fourteen years old. She performed songs about her country, religious songs, and songs for children.
She even sang the main song for a cartoon show called Hekayat Alamiyah. In 1984, when Assala was 15, her father passed away. She helped her mother take care of her younger brothers and sisters.
Assala's professional music career began in 1991. Her first big hit was an Egyptian song called Law Ta'rafou. This album featured four Egyptian songs in a classic style. It quickly became very popular in Egypt. Assala soon became a well-known singer across the Arab world.
Since 2011, Assala has shown her support for the people of Syria. She believes the conflict there should end to help civilians. She even wrote her first song in 2011. Assala also sang at the International Peace Day event. She became an ambassador for "Peace Building Through Music."
In 2019, Assala sang "Right Where I'm Supposed to Be." This was the official song for the 2019 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. She sang it with other famous artists like Ryan Tedder, Avril Lavigne, and Luis Fonsi.
Assala on Television
Assala hosted her own TV program called Soula (Arabic: صولا). On the show, she invited other musicians to her home in Cairo, Egypt. They would chat and perform music together.
Assala was also a judge on the TV show Saudi Idol. This show started in 2022. She judged alongside other singers like Aseel Abu Bakr and Ahlam.
Assala's Family Life
Assala's first marriage was to Ayman Al Dahabi. They had a daughter named Sham in 1992 and a son named Khaled in 1998. They divorced in 2005. Assala then became the main caregiver for her two children.
In 2006, she married Tarek Alarian, a director from Palestine and Egypt. In 2011, they welcomed twin boys, Adam and Ali, with medical help. Assala and Tarek divorced in 2020.
Assala now lives in Cairo with her four children. In September 2021, she married Faeq Hassan. He is from Iraq and works as a business manager for singer Majid Al Mohandis.
Assala is a Sunni Muslim. She was given Bahraini citizenship by King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain. This happened after she performed in a special show celebrating Bahrain's Independence Day.
