Ayron Jones (born August 23, 1986) is an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter from Seattle, Washington. His music is a cool mix of different styles like grunge, rock, hip-hop, and soul.

For many years, Ayron performed in local places in Seattle with his band, Ayron Jones and the Way. He was discovered by a famous producer named Sir Mix-a-Lot. After working independently for a while, he signed with a major record label called John Varvatos/Big Machine. His first big album was released on May 21, 2021.

Ayron has shared the stage with many legendary artists and bands. He has opened for or performed at festivals with names like B.B. King, Guns N' Roses, Patti Smith, Living Colour, Jeff Beck, Slipknot, and even The Rolling Stones. He has also played at big music festivals such as Download Festival, Bumbershoot, and SXSW.

Early life and musical start

Ayron Jones was born in Seattle, Washington. He was raised by his aunt, who loved soul and gospel music. This helped Ayron discover his own passion for music.

He taught himself how to play the piano, drums, and guitar. The guitar became his main instrument. He also took violin lessons in school. Even though he said he wasn't great at the violin, it helped him understand how music works. This helped him write his own songs. His first guitar was a gift from a neighbor. Later, he bought a Squier Stratocaster. The first song he learned to play was "Fly Away" by Lenny Kravitz.

When he was 19, Ayron started playing in local bars. Sometimes, he and his band faced challenges because they didn't look like typical rock bands. But Ayron's passion for music always shined through.

Music career

Early days and first albums (2010–2017)

In 2010, Ayron Jones formed a trio called Ayron Jones and the Way. They were inspired by famous rock trios like Cream and the Jimi Hendrix Experience. In 2012, while playing in Seattle, they were discovered by producer Sir Mix-a-Lot. He helped them record their first album, Dream, which came out in 2013. The album featured DeAndre Enrico on bass and Kai Van De Pitte on drums.

After his first album, Ayron decided to focus on his solo career. In 2015, his band members left, and he continued as a solo artist.

In 2017, he signed with the Agency for the Performing Arts. On June 2, 2017, he released his second album, Audio Paint Job. This album was described as telling his life story through music. It was produced by Barrett Martin and Jack Endino. The album also featured his new band, Bob Lovelace on bass and Ehssan Kirimi on drums.

Later in 2017, Ayron was a guest performer on the song "All Things Fade Away" by the Levee Walkers.

Major label success (2020–present)

In 2020, Ayron Jones signed with Big Machine/John Varvatos. He released his first single with them, "Take Me Away," in mid-2020. A music video for the song was released, which explored his personal journey and overcoming challenges. The song was produced by Eric Lilavois.

On September 20, he performed "The Star-Spangled Banner" before an NFL game between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots.

In February 2021, he released his second single, "Mercy." This song shared a powerful message about fairness and equality. It was even chosen as one of Classic Rock magazine's "Tracks of the Week."

In April 2021, Ayron was chosen by Fender to be part of their Fender Next project. This program helps new artists with marketing, equipment, and social media.

Also in April, he released his third single, "Spinning Circles." This song talks about difficult relationships. It was also a popular choice on another Classic Rock "Tracks of the Week" list.

His third album, Child of the State, was released on May 21, 2021. This was his first album with a major record label. It included his three singles and was named one of the best rock/metal albums of 2021 by Loudwire magazine.

In August 2022, he released a new single called "Filthy."

Music style and inspirations

Ayron Jones's music is known for mixing blues, hip-hop, grunge, hard rock, and soul. He once described his sound as "like if Michael Jackson played guitar like Jimi Hendrix in Kurt Cobain's band."

He believes the rhythm, or "beat," is the most important part of writing songs. He wants his music to represent the sound of Seattle, his hometown. Ayron also uses "noise" in his music. He says that the small imperfections in sound are what make music truly special and human.

People have compared Ayron's guitar playing to artists like Gary Clark Jr. and Stevie Ray Vaughan. His singing style has been compared to Michael Jackson's.

Some of his biggest guitar inspirations include Jimi Hendrix, Freddie King, B.B. King, and Kurt Cobain. For general music influences, he looks up to Stevie Ray Vaughan, Stevie Wonder, Dr. Dre, Rage Against the Machine, Nirvana, and Michael Jackson.

Personal life

Ayron Jones is married and has five children. Since 2017, he has lived in Alki Beach, Seattle.

Interestingly, Ayron also played on the same Ultimate Frisbee team as Sean Foreman from the band 3OH!3 in the 2004 World Championship in Finland.
