William "Billy" Bletcher (born September 24, 1894 – died January 5, 1979) was an American actor, voice actor, and comedian. He is most famous for being the voice of Mickey Mouse's big, grumpy rival, Pete, in many Disney cartoons from the 1930s to the 1950s.

Billy Bletcher's Career

Billy Bletcher was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, on September 24, 1894. When he was 19, he started working as a vaudeville performer. Vaudeville was a popular type of entertainment with different acts like singing, dancing, and comedy.

In 1913, Billy began his movie career at Vitagraph Studios in Brooklyn, New York. A few years later, in 1917, he moved to California. There, he became a comedian for Mack Sennett, who was famous for his funny silent films. Billy also appeared in many short comedy films made by Hal Roach.

During his long career, Billy Bletcher acted in many comedies. He also appeared in Westerns and action movies. He even directed two feature movies in the 1920s. Billy was the voice of The Lone Ranger in the 1937 movie serial. He also lent his voice to famous Disney animated movies like The Three Little Pigs (1933) and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937). Later, he did voice-overs for television shows. His last movie appearance was in 1969.

His Family Life

Billy Bletcher was married once to actress Arline Roberts. She was also a vaudeville performer and a "Ziegfeld Girl," which meant she performed in a famous show called the Ziegfeld Follies.

When they moved to California, Arline worked as a "bathing beauty" in films. She acted in silent comedies and feature movies, but she wasn't as famous as her husband. Billy and Arline had one daughter named Barbara U'ren.
