Exciting Expeditions and Travels
Bogdan Bulychev has led many incredible journeys. These expeditions often explore new routes and set new records.
The 59 Parallel Project
In July and August 2015, Bogdan led a project called "59 Parallel." This trip celebrated 170 years since the Russian Geographical Society was founded. The name comes from the 59th parallel north, which connects the starting point (Saint Petersburg) and the ending point (Magadan).
Two cars traveled all the way across Russia. They visited many cities like Yaroslavl, Kazan, Chelyabinsk, Yekaterinburg, and Yakutsk. A documentary movie, "59 Parallel: Discovering Unknown Russia," was made about this adventure.
Journey to the Pole of Cold
In February and March 2016, Bogdan led an expedition to the "Pole of Cold." Three cars started in Irkutsk and drove across several ice roads. They reached Tiksi, a northern settlement on the shore of the Laptev Sea.
The team visited two places that claim to be Russia's coldest spots: Oymyakon and Verkhoyansk. The goal was to map out a detailed route for car travel in northern Yakutia. It also aimed to promote car tourism and healthy living in Russia. Many famous explorers and TV crews joined this trip.
Eurasian Ring and Speed Record
From August to October 2016, Bogdan's team took on the "Eurasian Ring" expedition. They used one car to cross all of Eurasia, visiting 14 countries. The total distance was over 40,000 kilometers, which is more than the Earth's equator!
The team tried to break a Guinness World Record. They wanted to travel from Lisbon to Magadan as fast as possible. These two cities are the farthest apart in Eurasia. They started on August 23 in Lisbon and finished on August 31 in Magadan. They set a new record of 7 days, 22 hours, and 58 minutes. This beat the previous record of 8 days, 13 hours, and 30 minutes.
Into the Heart of Asia
In September and October 2017, Bogdan led another expedition supported by the Russian Geographical Society. This car trip went through six countries: Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and ended in Russia.
The team crossed two huge mountain ranges, Pamir and Tian Shan, using a regular car. The goal was to encourage free car travel and film a video blog for their YouTube channel "About travels." During the trip, they even helped search for a lost tourist in Kyrgyzstan.
Travels to Dikson
In January 2018, Bogdan Bulychev, along with other car explorers, went on an Arctic expedition. They were the first to reach Dikson, the northernmost continental settlement in the world, by car. This achievement was recognized as a Russian, European, and Guinness record.
The toughest part of the journey was crossing the icy Yenisei River and the Kara Sea. The return trip had to be made on the icebreaker Taymyr because of very difficult weather. The icebreaker picked up Bogdan and his cars from the ice of the Kara Sea.
Bicycle Expedition to the North Pole
In April 2018, Bogdan made history. He became the first person in the world to reach the North Pole by bicycle (a special type called a fatbike). He also set another world record for the fastest bicycle trip around the world in the Northern Hemisphere.
Bogdan's Family Life
Bogdan Bulychev is married to Vladlena Sergeevna Bulycheva. He proposed to her on the ice of the Laptev Sea. They have a daughter named Eseniya, who was born in December 2017.
