Since it began in 2012, Boots and Hearts has grown a lot. It is now Canada's largest country music festival. It's also the second largest music festival in North America. Only the CMA Music Festival is bigger.
Boots and Hearts has won many awards. It received the "Festival of the Year" award from the Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA) in 2014, 2015, and 2016. It also won the "Festival of the Year" award at Canadian Music Week in 2015. In 2019 and 2020, it was nominated for "Festival of the Year" by the Academy of Country Music Awards.
The festivals planned for 2020 and 2021 were cancelled. This happened because of the worldwide COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

Boots and Hearts: A Brief History
The Boots and Hearts festival started in 2012. It was first held at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario. Stan and Eva Dunford own the festival through their company, Republic Live Inc. The idea for the festival came from Stan’s nephew, Shannon McNevan.
The festival quickly became very popular. It grew too big for the Motorsport Park. So, the owners bought land specifically for large festivals. The festival then moved to its current home. This is the Burl's Creek Event Grounds in Oro-Medonte, Ontario.
