Caroline Flack passed away on 15 February 2020, at the age of 40.

Early life and childhood

Caroline Louise Flack was born in Enfield, London, on 9 November 1979. She was the youngest of four children. Caroline had a twin sister named Jody, and two older siblings, Elizabeth and Paul. When she was young, her family moved to Thetford, Norfolk, and then to East Wretham.

Caroline went to Great Hockham Primary School and Wayland High School in Watton, Norfolk. She loved dancing and often performed in local plays called pantomimes while she was at school. From 1996 to 1999, she studied dancing and musical theatre at the Bodywork Company in Cambridge.

Caroline's TV career

Caroline Flack started her television journey in 2002. She first appeared in the comedy show Bo' Selecta!, playing a funny character. After that, she presented the International Pepsi Chart Show and a show called Fash FC. In 2005, she had a regular part in the video games show When Games Attack.

Early presenting roles

From 2006 to 2008, Caroline co-presented TMi, a Saturday morning show on BBC Two and the CBBC Channel. She then hosted another CBBC show called Escape from Scorpion Island with Reggie Yates. In 2007, she also helped present the CBBC coverage of Comic Relief Does Fame Academy. She even commented on the semi-finals of the Eurovision Song Contest 2008.

In 2008, Caroline hosted Big Brother's Big Mouth, a show that discussed the reality TV series Big Brother. People liked her quick and clever way of presenting. She also co-presented the new version of Gladiators for two series. In 2009, she filled in as a presenter on the BBC show Something for the Weekend.

Reality TV and talent shows

Caroline started hosting I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here NOW! on ITV2 in 2009. This show was a spin-off from the main I'm a Celebrity series. That same year, she won BBC Three's Dancing on Wheels with her partner James O'Shea. They even represented Great Britain in a European wheelchair dancing competition, finishing 16th.

In 2011, Caroline became a team captain on the ITV2 game show Minute to Win It. She then joined Olly Murs to present The Xtra Factor, which was the spin-off show for The X Factor. They hosted it for two series, and Caroline continued for a third series with a new co-presenter.

Winning Strictly Come Dancing

A big moment in Caroline's career was in 2014 when she joined Strictly Come Dancing. She was partnered with professional dancer Pasha Kovalev. They were amazing and went on to win the entire series that December! They even achieved a perfect score of 40 points multiple times, which was a very impressive achievement. Winning Strictly encouraged Caroline to do more theatre work. She later starred in musicals like Crazy for You in 2017 and Chicago in 2018.

Hosting Love Island

In 2015, Caroline Flack and Olly Murs reunited to host the main The X Factor show. However, they left after one series.

Caroline then began presenting Love Island on ITV2 in 2015. This show had been on TV before but wasn't very popular. With Caroline as the host, Love Island became a huge success, attracting millions of viewers. She also presented the spin-off show Love Island: Aftersun. Caroline was nominated for Best Television Presenter at the National Television Awards four times for her work on Love Island. She stepped down from the show in December 2019.

Caroline was also going to present a new show called The Surjury on Channel 4, but it was cancelled after her passing. She also had a small role in the film Greed, which was released shortly after her death.

Personal life and challenges

Caroline Flack faced challenges with her mental health. She found it difficult to deal with the public criticism that sometimes comes with being famous. She dated a few well-known people during her life, including Prince Harry in 2009 and One Direction member Harry Styles in 2011. She was also briefly engaged to reality TV personality Andrew Brady in 2018.

Her passing and legacy
