The Story of CNT
CNT began on March 15, 1979. It was started by a businessman and politician named José Carlos Martinez. At first, it was a local TV station called TV Tropical. It was connected to the Globo Network for a short time.
In 1980, it was sold to another company. Then, in 1982, its name changed to Rede OM. It became a national TV network in 1992. After that, in 1993, it was renamed CNT.
After José Carlos Martinez passed away in 2003, his brother, Flávio de Castro Martinez, took over. He is now in charge of CNT.
Working with Televisa
CNT made a deal with Televisa, a big TV network from Mexico. Because of this partnership, CNT started showing Mexican TV series. For example, they showed a series called Manancial in August 2008. Other shows like Sueños y caramels and SOS: Sexo y otros Secretos also came from Televisa.
Where CNT Reaches
CNT has its own TV stations, plus many partner stations and signal repeaters. This helps it reach a huge part of Brazil. It broadcasts from five main cities: Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Salvador, Brasilia, and Curitiba.
The network reaches over 15 million homes. This means about 50 million people can watch CNT. They are always working to make their signal better and reach even more places across Brazil.
Digital TV at CNT
CNT was one of the first TV networks to use digital technology for its stations. This started back in 1999. Digital broadcasting means a clearer picture and sound. The stations get their programs in high quality by using satellites from a company called Embratel.
