Chapelle-sur-Moudon was a small town, or municipality, in Switzerland. It was located in the canton of Vaud, within the Gros-de-Vaud area.
On January 1, 2013, Chapelle-sur-Moudon joined with several other nearby towns. These included Correvon, Denezy, Martherenges, Neyruz-sur-Moudon, Peyres-Possens, Saint-Cierges, Thierrens, and Chanéaz. Together, they formed a new, larger municipality called Montanaire.

History of Chapelle-sur-Moudon
Chapelle-sur-Moudon was first mentioned in old writings in 1177. Back then, it was called Capellam. Later, in 1228, it was known as Capella Vualdana.
When the area was managed by Bern, it was called Chapelle Vaudanne. After the Canton of Vaud was created in 1798, its name changed to Chapelle (VD). This name stayed until 1953, when it became Chapelle-sur-Moudon.
Where is Chapelle-sur-Moudon?
Chapelle-sur-Moudon covered an area of about 4.6 square kilometers (1.8 square miles) in 2009. Most of this land, about 81.4%, was used for farming. Forests covered 13.0% of the area. The remaining 6.5% was used for buildings and roads.
About 3.7% of the area had houses and other buildings. Roads and other transport areas made up 1.9%. All the forested land was covered with thick forests. For farming, 68.5% of the land grew crops, and 12.1% was used for pastures where animals grazed.
The town was located on the left side of the Broye valley. It included the main village of Chapelle-sur-Moudon and a smaller settlement called Combe.

The design of Chapelle-sur-Moudon's coat of arms was simple. It showed a golden chapel on a blue background. This symbol represented the town.
People of Chapelle-sur-Moudon
In 2011, Chapelle-sur-Moudon had a population of 409 people. Over ten years, from 1999 to 2009, the population grew by 22.8%. Most of this growth came from people moving into the town.
In 2000, most people (94.0%) spoke French. Portuguese was the second most common language (2.8%), followed by German (2.2%).
Many people living in Chapelle-sur-Moudon in 2000 were born there (28.8%). Others were born in the same canton (46.4%). About 13.2% were born elsewhere in Switzerland, and 10.3% were born outside Switzerland.
In 2009, the population included 12.6% children (0-9 years old) and 14.4% teenagers (10-19 years old). Adults aged 20-59 made up about 55.2% of the population. Older adults (60 and above) made up about 17.8%.
In 2000, there were 116 private households in the town. On average, each household had 2.7 people. About 21.8% of households had only one person.
