A Look at Peyres-Possens History
Peyres-Possens is made up of two older villages, Peyres and Possens. Peyres was first mentioned in records around the year 1200. Possens appeared in historical documents a bit later, in 1230.
Geography and Landscape
Peyres-Possens covered an area of about 1.9 square kilometers (0.73 square miles). A large part of this land, almost half (49%), was used for farming. Forests covered about 39.6% of the area. The remaining land was used for buildings, roads, and a small amount of rivers or lakes.
Most of the built-up areas included buildings and roads. About 4.2% of the land was used for things like power and water systems. The forested areas were mostly dense forests. On the farms, about 35% of the land was used for growing crops, and 12.5% was for pastures where animals could graze. All the water in the area came from flowing rivers or streams.
Before 2006, Peyres-Possens was part of the Moudon District. After that, it became part of the new Gros-de-Vaud district. The former municipality is located on a hilly area called the mid-Jorat, near the Mentue river.
