Thierrens Through Time: A Brief History
Thierrens has a long history! We first hear about it way back around the years 1004 to 1007. Back then, it was known by a slightly different name, Teoderinco.
Exploring Thierrens: Land and Location
Thierrens covered an area of about 8.7 square kilometers (3.4 square miles) in 2009. A large part of this land, about 71%, was used for farming. This means lots of fields for crops and pastures for animals.
Forests covered about 22.6% of the area. The rest of the land, about 6.5%, was built up with buildings and roads.
Most of the built-up area was for houses and other buildings. Roads and other ways to get around made up a smaller part. The forests were mostly dense, thick woods.
Thierrens was also an important crossroads. It sat where the roads from Moudon to Yverdon met the roads from Echallens to Payerne. This made it a key spot for travel and trade.
