Ciro Immobile (born 20 February 1990) is an Italian professional footballer. He plays as a striker for Bologna. A striker is a player whose main job is to score goals.
Immobile started his career at Sorrento. In 2009, he joined Juventus. He was loaned to several clubs, including Pescara. With Pescara, he won the league title and was the top scorer. After playing for Genoa, he moved to Torino in 2013. There, he won the Capocannoniere award, which means he was the top scorer in Serie A.
After his great season at Torino, he moved to Borussia Dortmund in Germany in 2014. He then played for Sevilla in Spain. In 2016, he returned to Torino briefly before joining Lazio. At Lazio, Immobile became the club's all-time highest goalscorer. He won the Capocannoniere award multiple times and even the European Golden Shoe in 2020. This award goes to the top scorer in Europe.
Immobile also plays for the Italian national team. He made his debut in 2014. He was part of the team that won the UEFA European Championship in 2021.
Playing for Clubs
Early Career and Juventus
Ciro Immobile was born in Torre Annunziata, Italy. He started playing football in youth teams. In 2008, when he was 18, he joined Juventus. He played for their youth team, called Primavera.
In 2009, Immobile helped the Juventus youth team win the 2009 Torneo di Viareggio. He scored five goals in that tournament. On 14 March 2009, he played his first game in Serie A for Juventus. He also played in a Champions League game in November 2009. In 2010, he scored three goals in the 2010 Torneo di Viareggio final, helping Juventus win the title again.
Loans to Siena, Grosseto, and Pescara
In 2010, Immobile was loaned to Siena in Serie B. He then moved to Grosseto on loan in 2011.
Later in 2011, he joined Pescara on loan. He scored his first goal for Pescara in his very first game. He had a fantastic season, scoring 28 goals. This made him the top scorer in Serie B. Pescara also won the league title and moved up to Serie A. Immobile was named Serie B's Player of the Year in 2012.
Time at Genoa
After his loan at Pescara ended, Immobile officially became a Genoa player in July 2012. He played one season for Genoa.
Playing for Torino
In July 2013, Immobile joined Torino. He scored his first goal for Torino in a cup match against Pescara. He started scoring regularly in Serie A from October 2013.
On 22 March 2014, Immobile scored his first hat-trick in Serie A against Livorno. A hat-trick means scoring three goals in one game. He continued to score many goals, reaching 21 goals in the season. He finished the 2013–14 season with 22 goals in 33 games. This made him the first Torino player to win the Capocannoniere award since the 1976–77 season.
Moving to Borussia Dortmund
In June 2014, Immobile signed with Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund in Germany. He made his debut for Dortmund in August, helping them win the 2014 DFL-Supercup.
He scored his first goal for Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League against Arsenal in September. He scored four goals in six Champions League matches that season.
Loan to Sevilla
In July 2015, Immobile joined Sevilla in Spain on a loan. He made his debut in the 2015 UEFA Super Cup final. He helped set up a goal in that game. In November 2015, he scored his first goal for Sevilla in a win against Real Madrid.
Return to Torino on Loan
In January 2016, Immobile went back to Torino on loan. He scored in his first game back. He played until the end of the 2015–16 season.
Success at Lazio

On 27 July 2016, Immobile signed with Lazio. He scored in his first game for Lazio. He finished his first season with 23 league goals.
In August 2017, he scored two goals in the 2017 Supercoppa Italiana, helping Lazio win. In September, he scored a hat-trick against Milan. In January 2018, he scored four goals in one half against SPAL. He ended the 2017–18 season with 29 goals, sharing the Capocannoniere award. He also was a top scorer in the UEFA Europa League that season.
On 3 November 2019, he scored his 100th goal for Lazio. The 2019–20 season was amazing for him. He scored 36 goals, which equaled the record for most goals in a single Serie A season. He won his third Capocannoniere title and his first European Golden Shoe. This award is for the top goalscorer in European leagues.
In August 2020, Immobile signed a new contract with Lazio. In October 2020, he scored his first Champions League goal for Lazio. In May 2021, he scored his 150th goal for Lazio across all competitions.
On 4 November 2021, Immobile became Lazio's all-time leading goalscorer. He scored against Marseille in the UEFA Europa League. He also became the first Lazio player to score 10+ goals in six straight Serie A seasons.

In March 2022, he played his 200th Serie A game for Lazio. He also matched a club record for goals in Serie A. In April 2022, he scored his 180th Serie A goal. He became the first Italian player to score at least 25 goals in three different league seasons. He won the Capocannoniere for a fourth time in the 2021–22 season.
In February 2023, Immobile scored two goals against Salernitana. This moved him to 8th place on the all-time Serie A goalscorers list. In April, he became the third player to score 10 goals in seven straight seasons for the same club.
On 7 November 2023, Immobile scored his 200th goal for Lazio in a Champions League match. In February 2024, he scored his 200th goal in Serie A. He also scored his first goal in the knockout stage of the Champions League against Bayern Munich. He finished the 2023–24 season with seven Serie A goals.
Time at Beşiktaş
On 13 July 2024, Immobile signed a contract with Süper Lig club Beşiktaş in Turkey. A month later, he scored two goals and was named player of the match in the 2024 Turkish Super Cup.
In August 2024, he scored two more goals in a league match against Antalyaspor. He scored 10 goals in his first 10 games for Beşiktaş.

On 10 July 2025, Immobile signed with Serie A club Bologna.
Playing for Italy
Early International Career
On 2 March 2014, Immobile was called up to the Italian national team for the first time. He made his debut a few days later in a friendly match against Spain.
In June 2014, he was chosen for Italy's squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. He scored his first official goal for Italy in September 2014 against the Netherlands. In May 2016, he was part of Italy's squad for UEFA Euro 2016.
Euro 2020 Victory
In June 2021, Immobile was included in Italy's squad for UEFA Euro 2020. In the first game, he scored a goal and helped set up another in a 3–0 win against Turkey. He scored again in the next group match against Switzerland.
In the semi-final against Spain, he helped set up the first goal. Italy won that game after a penalty shootout. On 11 July, Immobile and Italy won the European Championship! They beat England in the final at Wembley Stadium after a penalty shootout.
In September 2023, Immobile became the new captain of the Italian national team.
How Ciro Immobile Plays
Ciro Immobile is mainly a striker, which means he plays at the front of the team to score goals. He is known for moving well without the ball and finding open spaces. He can shoot with both feet and is good at heading the ball.
He is also a hard-working player who helps defend by chasing the ball. He can also pass to his teammates for assists. He is very good at taking penalty kicks. Because he scores so many goals, Lazio fans call him "King Ciro."
Personal Life
In May 2014, Ciro Immobile married his long-time girlfriend, Jessica Melena. They have four children. Immobile is a big fan of Formula One racing.
In April 2023, Immobile was involved in a car accident near Stadio Olimpico in Rome. He had some injuries, but thankfully recovered.
