How Coleyville Got Its Name
The area of Coleyville is named after Philemon and Sylvia Coley. They were settlers who moved here in 1866. The couple came all the way from Halesowen, England.
The Story of Coleyville School
Coleyville had its own school for many years. It first opened on July 21, 1890, as Coleyville Provisional School. Later, on January 1, 1909, it became Coleyville State School.
The school closed in 1926 because not many students were attending. However, it reopened in 1928. The school finally closed for good in 1964. The old school building was located at 1080 Coleyville Road.
