The Culiacán International Airport (also known as Bachigualato Federal International Airport) is a busy airport in Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mexico. It helps people travel by air both within Mexico and to other countries.
This airport is one of the top 10 busiest airports in Mexico. It is the busiest in Sinaloa for flights inside Mexico. It is managed by a company called Grupo Aeroportuario Centro Norte.
The airport has been improved with a new layout and a modern system for boarding planes. It has two jetways, which are bridges that connect the terminal directly to the airplane.
In 2022, over 2.4 million passengers traveled through Culiacán Airport. That's a lot of people!
The airport is named after the Bachigualato neighborhood where it is located.
There are plans to make the airport even bigger. This includes building a second runway. This new runway would be able to handle very large planes, like the Boeing 777.

Terminals: Your Airport Hubs
Culiacán International Airport has two main areas for planes and passengers. These are called terminals.
Main Terminal: For All Your Flights
The Main Terminal is where most travelers go. It handles all flights, whether you are flying within Mexico or to another country. This terminal has two jetways. These are covered walkways that connect the building to the airplane. It also has three other spots where planes can park away from the building.
Terminal Expansion: Making Travel Better
From 2012, the airport worked to make the Main Terminal bigger and better. They added 3,000 square meters of new space. This expansion made the airport work more smoothly. It also made it more comfortable for passengers like you.
The improvements included:
- A new main lobby for welcoming travelers.
- More space for people waiting to check in.
- A new check-in area on the upper floor. This area can handle three lines of people at once.
- A new elevator on the front of the building.
- A larger waiting area for passengers.
- A redesigned shopping area.
- A modern new look for the building, both inside and out.
General Aviation Terminal: For Private Planes
Next to the Main Terminal is the General Aviation Terminal. This terminal is also known as the Private Aviation Terminal. It is used for private planes and helicopters. This means it's where smaller, non-commercial aircraft operate.
