Ashton Dumar Norwill Simmonds (born April 5, 1995), known as Daniel Caesar, is a Canadian singer and songwriter. He became famous by releasing two short music collections called EPs, Praise Break (2014) and Pilgrim's Paradise (2015).
In 2017, he released his first full album, Freudian. This album was nominated for three Grammy Awards. His second album, Case Study 01, came out in 2019. In 2021, Daniel Caesar sang with Giveon on Justin Bieber's song "Peaches". This song became his first number-one hit in the US. His third album, Never Enough, was released in 2023.

Ashton Dumar Norwill Simmonds was born on April 5, 1995. He grew up in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. He is one of four children. His father, Norwill Simmonds, is a pastor and gospel singer.
Daniel Caesar went to a private school in Oshawa. His family is from Barbados and Jamaica. He grew up singing in his father's church. He listened to soul and gospel music. His parents were careful about the music world. Daniel Caesar always wanted to live in the city.

Starting His Career (2013–2017)
When Daniel Caesar was 17, he left home. He decided to follow his dream of becoming a musician. He started performing at small shows. He met producers Jordan Evans and Matthew Burnett. They helped him write and record his first EP, Praise Break, in 2014. Rolling Stone magazine called it one of the best R&B albums of 2014.
His career really took off in 2015. He released his second EP, Pilgrim's Paradise. Critics liked this album a lot. Songs like "Streetcar" became popular with fans.
On August 25, 2017, Daniel Caesar released his first album, Freudian. It included popular songs like "Get You" and "Blessed". The album was nominated for the 2018 Polaris Music Prize. At the 60th Annual Grammy Awards, he was nominated for Best R&B Album. His song "Get You" was nominated for Best R&B Performance.
At the 61st Annual Grammy Awards, Daniel Caesar won a Grammy. He won Best R&B Performance for his song "Best Part". In 2021, he sang on Justin Bieber's song "Peaches". This song became a huge hit. It was his first song to reach number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Daniel Caesar released his second album, Case Study 01, on June 28, 2019. Many famous artists were on this album. These included Brandy, Pharrell Williams, and John Mayer. His song "Love Again" with Brandy was nominated for a Grammy.
On March 19, 2021, he was featured on Justin Bieber's "Peaches". This song was a massive success. It reached number one in both Canada and the US. The song also earned four nominations at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards.
