David Gómez Martínez was born on February 13, 1981, in O Rosal, Pontevedra, Spain. He is a Spanish athlete who competes in the Decathlon. David has achieved a lot in his career. He was a national junior champion twice and a national senior champion an amazing eleven times! He also competed in the Olympic Games two times.

David won two silver medals in the decathlon. One was at the 2000 IAAF World Junior Championships in Santiago, Chile. The other was at the 2006 Ibero-American Championships in Ponce, Puerto Rico.

David's Amazing Achievements

Winning Gold in 2004

In 2004, David Gómez had a fantastic year. He set his personal best score in the decathlon with 7,904 points. He achieved this while winning the gold medal at the Ibero-American Championships in Huelva, Spain. This score was also a new record for that championship!

Competing at the Athens Olympics

After his big win, David was chosen to represent Spain at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. He competed in the men's decathlon event. David finished in twenty-fifth place, scoring a strong 7,865 points.

Beijing Olympics Challenge

David competed in the Olympic Games again at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. He took part in the men's decathlon for the second time. Even though he had a serious injury, he still gave his best.

Setting New Records in Beijing

During the competition in Beijing, David set some of his best scores for that season. He ran the 100 metres in 11.12 seconds. He threw the discus throw 40.17 meters and the javelin throw 62.22 meters. He even set a new personal best in the 1500 metres race, finishing in 4:30.74.

Unfortunately, David had trouble with the pole vault event. He couldn't clear a height, which meant he lost points and couldn't win a medal. He finished the competition in twenty-fifth place with a total score of 6,876 points.

David's Club and Coach

David Gómez is a dedicated athlete. He is a full-time member of Club Atletico Celta de Vigo, which is located in Vigo, Spain. His coach and trainer is Jesus Lence, who helps him prepare for his competitions.
