Tolima is a special area in Colombia called a department. Think of it like a state or province in other countries. Its main city, or capital, is Ibagué. Tolima is located in the central part of Colombia. It was officially created on August 4, 1886.

This department is home to beautiful natural places. You can find the Las Hermosas and Nevado del Huila National Natural Parks here. These parks help protect amazing plants and animals. The important Magdalena River flows through Tolima from south to north.
