Desmond Green (born October 11, 1989) is an American mixed martial artist. He competed in the lightweight division for Ultimate Fighting Championship. Green is also a bare-knuckle boxer for BYB Extreme Fighting Series. He is the current BYB Middleweight Champion and Police Gazette Diamond Belt champion.

About Desmond Green
Green was a talented wrestler at Rush–Henrietta High School. He won a state championship there. Later, he wrestled at the University at Buffalo. He studied social sciences during his time at the university.
Green was a Mid-American Conference Champion. He also qualified for the Division 1 NCAA tournament three times. Before becoming a full-time fighter, Green worked part-time at Walmart as a cashier.
Desmond Green has three children. He has two daughters named Tsajelia and Dahlia. He also has a son named Desmond Jr.
Mixed Martial Arts Career
Starting His Career
Desmond Green began his professional fighting career in 2012. He mostly fought for promotions in the northeastern United States. In his first year, he quickly built an impressive record. He won 8 fights and lost only 1.
In early 2013, Green won the New England Fights lightweight title. He defeated UFC veteran Henry Martinez by TKO. Soon after this victory, Green signed a contract with Bellator MMA. He joined their featherweight tournament.
Fighting in Bellator MMA
Green's first fight with Bellator was on September 13, 2013. He faced Fabrício Guerreiro at Bellator 99. This was a quarterfinal match in the Bellator season nine featherweight tournament. Green lost this fight by a unanimous decision.
He then fought Angelo Sanchez on October 25, 2013, at Bellator 105. Green won this fight by TKO in the second round. The doctor stopped the fight because Sanchez could not continue.
On February 28, 2014, Green faced Mike Richman at Bellator 110. This was another quarterfinal match in the Bellator season ten featherweight tournament. Green won by unanimous decision. He then moved on to the semifinals.
In the semifinals, he fought Will Martinez at Bellator 114 on March 28, 2014. Green won again by unanimous decision. For the tournament final, Green faced Daniel Weichel at Bellator 119. He lost this final match by submission in the second round. Green was released from Bellator on August 26, 2014.
Time with Titan Fighting Championship
In September 2014, Green signed with Titan Fighting Championship. He made his debut on October 31, 2014, at Titan FC 31. He fought Miguel Torres in the main event. Green won the fight by knockout in the first round.
Next, Green faced UFC veteran Steven Siler on December 19, 2014. This fight was at Titan FC 32 for the vacant Titan FC Featherweight Championship. Green won the title by unanimous decision.
For his first title defense, Green fought Kurt Holobaugh on March 20, 2015, at Titan FC 33. To make weight for this fight, he had to cut his dreadlocks. After a close fight, Green lost the title by split decision.
Competing in the UFC
In February 2017, it was announced that Desmond Green had signed with the UFC. He made his UFC debut against Josh Emmett on April 8, 2017, at UFC 210. Green won this fight by split decision.
Green then faced Rustam Khabilov on September 2, 2017, at UFC Fight Night 115. He lost this fight by unanimous decision. After this bout, Desmond signed a new contract with the UFC.
On February 3, 2018, Green fought Michel Prazeres at UFC Fight Night 125. Prazeres weighed in over the limit, so the fight was a catchweight bout. Green lost the fight by unanimous decision.
Green faced Gleison Tibau on June 1, 2018, at UFC Fight Night 131. He won this fight by unanimous decision.
He then fought Mairbek Taisumov on September 15, 2018, at UFC Fight Night 136. Taisumov also missed weight for this fight. Green lost the close fight by unanimous decision.
Green faced Ross Pearson on March 30, 2019, at UFC on ESPN 2. He won this fight by technical knockout in the first round.
His next fight was against newcomer Charles Jourdain on May 18, 2019, at UFC Fight Night: dos Anjos vs. Lee. Green won the fight by unanimous decision. In January 2020, Green was released by the UFC.
After the UFC
Green made his first fight appearance after the UFC on March 19, 2022. He fought Piankhi Zimmerman at Gamebred Fighting Championship: Freedom Fight Night. He won the bout by TKO in the first round. He also fought Piankhi Zimmerman again on April 23, 2022, at Cagezilla FC 66, winning by unanimous decision.
Bare-Knuckle Boxing Career
BYB Extreme Fighting Series
Desmond Green started his bare-knuckle boxing career with BYB. His first fight was on September 11, 2021, against Jeff Chiffens. He won this fight by TKO.
On November 19, 2022, at BYB 13 in Tampa, he defeated Scott McHugh. McHugh was a three-time BKB champion. With this win, Green captured the first-ever BYB Middleweight title. He also won the Police Gazette Diamond Belt.
