Dina Thanthi (which means Daily Mail in English) is a very popular newspaper in India. It is written in the Tamil language. A smart lawyer and editor named S. P. Adithanar started it in Madurai way back in 1942.
Dina Thanthi is the biggest daily newspaper printed in the Tamil language in India. It is also the ninth largest newspaper overall in India, based on how many copies are sold. You can find this newspaper printed in 16 different cities across India. There are even international versions printed in Dubai and Sri Lanka. The Daily Thanthi group also has a TV channel called Thanthi One, which started in May 2024.

History of Dina Thanthi
Dina Thanthi was created in Madurai on November 1, 1942. It was founded by S. P. Adithanar, who was a lawyer, a politician, and also the main editor of the newspaper.

This daily newspaper is printed in 16 cities across India. These cities include Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, Pondicherry, Coimbatore, Cuddalore, Dindigul, Erode, Madurai, Nagercoil, Salem, Thanjavur, Tiruchirappalli, Tirunelveli, Tirupur, and Vellore.
In the second half of 2015, about 1,714,743 copies of the newspaper were sold every day.
There is also an International edition printed in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This version is for people living in the Middle East.
Another international edition is printed in Colombo, Sri Lanka. This one is released together with Virakesari, which is another Tamil newspaper in Sri Lanka.

Awards and Helping Students
In 2005, the government of India gave the Padma Shri award to Sivanthi Adithan. He was the managing director of Dina Thanthi. He received this award for his great work in helping to educate students who were not wealthy.
To help students do better in school, the newspaper gives money to students. These are students who get the top three scores in their 10th and 12th grade exams. Every year, during C. Pa. Aditanar's birthday celebration, top students from Tamil Nadu are honored. They receive prize money and a gold medal.
