Domo TV is a fun stop-motion TV show for kids. It was made by Nickelodeon and a Japanese animator named Tsuneo Gōda, along with NHK. The show has 26 short episodes, each about two minutes long.

You could watch Domo TV on Nicktoons in the United States. It also aired on Nickelodeon channels around the world. This show was Nickelodeon's first big project involving anime style animation. It was also the second show to be called a "Nicktoons Network original program."

The series is based on a popular Japanese character named Domo. He was first seen in short commercials for the NHK channel in Japan. In Domo TV, Domo goes on simple adventures with his friends. These friends include Mr. Usaji the rabbit, Tashanna the weasel, and two bats named Maya and Mario. The show has no talking, so you can understand it no matter what language you speak!

Nickelodeon added some new things to Domo's world for Domo TV. They created new places for the characters to explore. They also gave the show a cool, rock-inspired theme song.

How Domo TV Was Made

Learn about how the Domo TV show was created and brought to life!

Starting the Project

The show is based on Domo, who is the official mascot for NHK in Japan. Work on Domo TV began in the spring of 2006. Nickelodeon wanted to try making more shows that had an anime feel. They had seen how popular other anime-inspired shows, like Avatar: The Last Airbender, were. This likely made them decide to create a true anime-style series.

At the time, Nickelodeon wanted to bring more international animation, including Japanese shows, to a global audience. The show was first announced at the 2006 Tokyo International Anime Fair. The goal was to "create Domo for U.S. audiences." The famous director Tsuneo Gōda was the one who created the show.

Animation Style

The characters in Domo TV are animated using stop-motion. This means they use real models and move them tiny bits at a time. After each small movement, they take a picture. When all the pictures are played quickly, it looks like the characters are moving! Some computer-generated imagery (CGI) was also used. The animation studio Dwarf Incorporated, based in Tokyo, built and animated all the props and characters.
