Euro Truck Simulator 2 is a fun truck driving game. It was made by SCS Software and first came out in 2012. You can play it on computers with Microsoft Windows, Linux, or macOS. This game is the next one after the 2008 game Euro Truck Simulator. It's the fourth game in the Truck Simulator series.

In the game, you get to drive big trucks all over Europe. The game lets you choose your own path, so it's not a straight line. You pick up different kinds of cargo and deliver it to places. As you play, you can buy more trucks and garages. You can even hire other drivers to help your trucking business grow!

SCS Software announced in 2023 that they are making a new game engine. This will make the game look even better and run smoother. It will also help them get the game ready for consoles like PlayStation or Xbox. By March 2021, over 9 million copies of the game had been sold.

Euro Truck Simulator 2 is a game where you drive trucks. It also has parts of a business simulation game. You drive big trucks in a huge open world map of Europe. Your main goal is to deliver loads to different places. When you deliver cargo, you earn money and experience points.

It's important to deliver your cargo on time. You also need to make sure the goods don't get damaged. The less damage and faster you deliver, the more money and points you get. You will need to spend money on fuel for your truck. Some roads have tolls, and you might need to pay for repairs if your truck gets damaged.

When you start the game, you pick a city for your main office. At first, you can only do "quick jobs." For these jobs, the game gives you a truck to drive. The company you work for pays for everything like fuel and tolls. As you earn money, you can buy your own truck. Then you can get your own garage and take on better-paying jobs.

Growing Your Trucking Business

The money you earn can be used in many ways. You can buy new trucks or upgrade your current ones. You can also buy your own trailers. A big part of the game is hiring other drivers. These drivers can take on deliveries for you. You can also buy more garages and make them bigger. This lets you have more trucks and drivers.

The drivers you hire also get better with experience. You can build a huge fleet of trucks. Each truck can have its own trailer. With many drivers, your business can spread across all of Europe.

You get experience points after each delivery. When you level up, you get a skill point. You can use these points to unlock special deliveries. These include dangerous goods, very long trips, or fragile cargo. You can also unlock urgent jobs or learn to drive more efficiently. Getting more skills helps you get jobs that pay more money. The main game has 71 cities in 12 countries. It also features over 20 types of cargo.

The game often gets free updates. These updates add new features. For example, the "Used Truck Market" was added in a recent update. This lets you buy used trucks, which was also in the first Euro Truck Simulator game.

Map Updates and New Areas

The original game map includes countries like Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, and the United Kingdom. Over time, the game developers have made the older parts of the map look much better. They also add new cities and roads. This makes the game feel more realistic and fun.

Many updates have improved different parts of the map. For example, areas in France and Italy have been reworked. Germany has also seen many improvements over the years. Cities like Hannover, Hamburg, and Rostock have been rebuilt. Even Austria and Switzerland have received big updates. This means the game map is always growing and getting better!

Extra Content for Euro Truck Simulator 2

SCS Software also releases many extra packs for the game. These are called Downloadable Content, or DLCs.

Some DLCs let you change how your truck looks. You can get different paint jobs. These can be themed for holidays or specific countries. Other packs add real-life brands to the game. You can get trailers from companies like Feldbinder, Krone, and Schwarzmüller. There are also tire and wheel parts from brands like Goodyear and Michelin.

You can also get special "tuning packs" for your trucks. These packs add more ways to customize your truck. You can add bull bars, special lights, or even branded mugs inside your cabin.

Other DLCs add new ways to play the game. The "Cabin Accessories" DLC lets you decorate the inside of your truck. You can add things like a laptop, a coffee cup, or even a bobblehead. There are also DLCs for transporting very heavy cargo. The "Heavy Cargo" DLC lets you carry huge loads. The "Special Transport" DLC gives you even bigger jobs. For these, you often have escort vehicles and cannot stop or leave the special route. These huge loads need extra care to deliver!
