Eva Gaëlle Green (born 6 July 1980) is a French-British actress. She is known for playing interesting and sometimes mysterious characters. Her mother is the actress Marlène Jobert. Eva started her acting career in theatre.
She made her first film appearance in The Dreamers (2003). Later, she played Sibylla, Queen of Jerusalem in the historical movie Kingdom of Heaven (2005). In 2006, she became famous for playing Bond girl Vesper Lynd in the James Bond film Casino Royale. For this role, she won the BAFTA Rising Star Award.
Eva Green has also starred in many independent films. These include Cracks (2009) and Womb (2010). In 2014, she played Artemisia in 300: Rise of an Empire. She also appeared as Ava Lord in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. Green has worked often with director Tim Burton. She was in his films Dark Shadows (2012), Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (2016), and Dumbo (2019). For her role as an astronaut mother in Proxima (2019), she was nominated for a César Award for Best Actress.
On television, Green played Morgan Pendragon in the series Camelot (2011). She also starred as Vanessa Ives in the horror drama series Penny Dreadful (2014–2016). Her performance in Penny Dreadful was highly praised. She received a nomination for Best Actress in a Television Series – Drama.

Early Life and Education
Eva Green was born on 6 July 1980. She has a twin sister named Joy. Her mother is French actress Marlène Jobert. Her father, Walter Green, is a Swedish dental surgeon who also acted sometimes.
Eva's mother is of Jewish descent and was born in Algeria. Her great-grandfather was French composer Paul Le Flem. Her aunt is actress Marika Green. Her cousins are singer Elsa Lunghini and actress Joséphine Jobert. The name "Green" comes from the Swedish word "gren," which means "tree branch."
Eva grew up in France. She studied at the American University of Paris, where classes are taught in English. When she was seven, she visited the Louvre museum and became interested in Egyptology. At age 14, after seeing a movie with Isabelle Adjani, Eva decided she wanted to be an actress. Her mother was worried at first because Eva was shy. But later, her mother supported her dream. Eva continued her acting studies in Paris and London. She said that in drama school, she liked to pick "evil roles." She felt it was a good way to express her feelings.

Eva Green started her stage career in plays like Jalousie en Trois Fax (2001). In 2002, director Bernardo Bertolucci chose her for her first film role in The Dreamers (2003). Her performance in the film was well-received. Some people compared her to actress Liv Tyler.
Her next film was Arsène Lupin (2004). She played Lupin's love interest. She enjoyed this lighter role, but she usually prefers more complex characters.

Latest Projects
Eva Green appeared in Nocebo, a psychological thriller released in late 2022. In 2021, it was announced that she would be the main character in the British-French Apple TV+ series Liaison. This series premiered on 24 February 2023.
In 2023, she played Milady de Winter in two French film adaptations of The Three Musketeers: The Three Musketeers: D'Artagnan and The Three Musketeers: Milady. Green also reunited with Casino Royale director Martin Campbell for the action thriller film Dirty Angels. In this film, she plays a military soldier. The movie was released on 13 December 2024.
Personal Life
Eva Green has lived in London since 2005. She has said she is happier living in England than in France.
Even though she is shy, Eva often chooses to play strong or mysterious characters. She feels that these roles allow her to be more free. She has also tried to take on different kinds of roles to avoid being cast in the same type of part too often.
Eva describes herself as "very spiritual" and has complex beliefs about supernatural forces. She is interested in returning to theatre acting. She does not plan to work in Hollywood full-time. She believes that studios there have too much power over directors. Her main goal is to find good scripts.
From 2005 to 2009, she was in a relationship with her Kingdom of Heaven co-star Marton Csokas.
