Field Station: Dinosaurs is an exciting outdoor theme park where you can explore the world of prehistoric creatures! It has two locations in the United States. This park is perfect for families, especially those with younger kids.
Both parks let you go on a walking tour. You'll see full-size, super realistic animatronic dinosaurs. There are also fun, interactive exhibits and live shows. These shows teach you all about dinosaurs and how they fit into their ancient environments. The main person in charge, Guy Gsell, loves dinosaurs and leads the expeditions!
The first park opened in New Jersey in 2012. It was even called the "Best Local Theme Park" by Time Out New York. In 2013, Field Station: Dinosaurs was ranked the second best dinosaur theme park in the whole world! Fodor's also named it one of the "World's Best Spots for Dinosaur Lovers" in 2014.
In 2018, a second amazing location opened in Derby, Kansas. This is near the Wichita area.

New Jersey Park: A Dinosaur Adventure
The first Field Station: Dinosaurs park opened on May 26, 2012. It was originally located at Snake Hill in Secaucus, New Jersey. After four fun seasons, the park had to move. Its old spot was needed for a new school campus.
The Secaucus park closed on September 7, 2015, with huge crowds. The team then searched for a new home. In 2016, Field Station: Dinosaurs found its new spot! It reopened in Overpeck County Park in Bergen County, right next to Teaneck Creek. The beautiful green surroundings make a perfect home for the dinosaurs.
In 2018, a new dinosaur joined the New Jersey park. Park visitors voted for the Spinosaurus, a giant meat-eater. It replaced the Argentinosaurus, which had a fiery end the season before. When the 90-foot Argentinosaurus was first bought, it was the biggest animatronic dinosaur ever made!
Here are some of the cool areas you can explore in the New Jersey park:
Base Camp: Your Adventure Starts Here!
Base Camp is where your dinosaur adventure begins! When you arrive, you get your "credentials." This is like a passport that gets stamped as you visit different games, workshops, and shows. Base Camp also has the TriceraShops gift shop. Plus, you'll find first aid and Expedition Central Command here.
Amphitheater: Live Dinosaur Shows!
The Amphitheater is an outdoor stage where exciting shows happen all day long. You'll even see a huge 15-foot dinosaur puppet!
- "Feeding Frenzy" uses science to figure out what dinosaurs ate.
- "Found in New Jersey" is a fossil show. It teaches you about dinosaurs found right in the Garden State.
Other shows at the amphitheater include the Field Station Challenge, Morning Briefing, Songs o' the Dinosaur Troubadour, and the Dinosaur Dance Party.
Dig Site: Become a Paleontologist!
At the Quarry, you can visit a special dig site. Here, kids can dig for their own fossils! There's also a Paleontologists' Laboratory where you can learn more.
Riverview: Meet the Giants!
At the Riverview, you can see the massive 90-foot Argentinosaurus. You'll also meet the Hadrosaurus. This amazing creature is New Jersey's official state dinosaur!
Family Tent: Games and Fun!
The Plateau is home to fun family games. Try "Mesozoic Concentration" or "Raptor Feud." In these games, you answer questions about dinosaurs, geology, and paleontology. You can also learn Dinos-Origami or enjoy "What Color is Your Dinosaurs?", a fun show for younger kids.
Kansas Park: More Dinosaur Fun!
Field Station: Dinosaurs opened its second location in Derby, Kansas, on May 26, 2018. This park features 44 amazing animatronic dinosaurs! You can also enjoy more than 40 live shows throughout the day at different spots in the park. A large amphitheater hosts the popular 'T-Rex Feeding Frenzy' show. This show features a huge 14-foot-long T-Rex puppet!
Park Attractions: Learn and Play!
Both Field Station: Dinosaurs parks are designed for families. They are especially great for kids aged 11 and under.
Education: Discovering Dinosaurs
The parks offer special educational programs. These programs are perfect for school groups, summer camps, and daycare centers. They help students learn more about dinosaurs in a fun way.
