Frank Iero (born October 31, 1981) is an American musician, singer, and songwriter. He is best known as the rhythm guitarist and a backup singer for the rock band My Chemical Romance. He is also a guitarist in the supergroup L.S. Dunes. A supergroup is a music group whose members are already famous from other bands. Frank Iero has also been the lead singer for the band Leathermouth. He has his own music project called Frank Iero and the Future Violents. He released his first solo album, Stomachaches, in 2014.

Early Life and Musical Beginnings
Frank Iero was born in Belleville, New Jersey. When he was a child, he often got sick with bronchitis and ear infections. This meant he spent a lot of time in the hospital. He also has allergies to certain foods.
Frank's parents separated when he was young. He grew up with his mother, who let his bands practice in their basement. His father and grandfather were also musicians. They helped Frank learn about music when he was young. His father taught him to play the drums, but Frank later started playing the guitar.
Music Career Highlights
Starting Out with Bands
Frank began playing in local punk bands in New Jersey when he was 11 years old. Before joining My Chemical Romance, he was the lead singer for a punk band called Pencey Prep. This band released an album called Heartbreak in Stereo.
While playing with Pencey Prep, Frank became friends with Gerard Way and the other members of My Chemical Romance. He liked their early music and helped them get their first concerts. After Pencey Prep broke up, Frank played in a few other bands. Then, he was asked to join My Chemical Romance as their rhythm guitarist.
Joining My Chemical Romance
Frank Iero joined My Chemical Romance in 2002. He played on their first album, I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love. He also performed on their next albums: Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge (2004), The Black Parade (2006), and Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys (2010). My Chemical Romance announced they were breaking up on March 22, 2013.
Other Music Projects
Frank Iero was also the lead singer for the hardcore punk band Leathermouth. They released their album XO in 2009. The band later split up in 2010.
Frank also played bass guitar for Reggie and the Full Effect on their farewell tour. His first solo song, "This Song Is A Curse," was released in 2012. It was part of the soundtrack for the Tim Burton film, Frankenweenie.
In 2013, Frank Iero and James Dewees started a new music project called Death Spells. They released their album Nothing Above, Nothing Below in 2016.
Solo Music Journey
After My Chemical Romance broke up, Frank Iero started writing songs in his home studio. On November 28, 2013, he announced a two-song release called "For Jamia...".
In June 2014, he announced his first solo album, Stomachaches. He released it under the name frnkiero andthe cellabration. Frank played all the instruments on the album except for the drums, which were played by Jarrod Alexander. He then put together a touring band.
In 2016, Frank Iero announced that his band's name would change to Frank Iero and the Patience. They released their second album, Parachutes, on October 28, 2016.

On December 31, 2018, Frank Iero announced his newest solo band name: Frank Iero and the Future Violents. They released his third solo album, Barriers, on May 31, 2019. This album was named one of the best rock albums of 2019 by Loudwire magazine.

My Chemical Romance Reunion
On October 31, 2019, My Chemical Romance announced they would be reuniting for concerts. Their first reunion show was in Los Angeles on December 20, 2019. They also planned shows in Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. The tour was delayed until 2022 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The last concert of the reunion tour happened on March 26, 2023, in Osaka, Japan.
Musical Instruments
When My Chemical Romance first started, Frank Iero often used Gibson SG and Epiphone Les Paul guitars. He also used Marshall amps. Later, he started using Gibson Les Pauls more often.
In 2011, he worked with Epiphone to create his own guitar model, the Wilshire Phant-O-Matic. He used this guitar during My Chemical Romance's tours. He also uses Orange brand amplifiers and a Boss BD-2 Blues Driver pedal for his guitar sound.
Personal Life
Frank Iero has many tattoos. Some of them are logos for bands like Black Flag and The Misfits. He also has tattoos that show his love for his home state, New Jersey. He has portraits of his grandmothers and grandfather tattooed on him. These tattoos were featured in a book by tattoo artist Kat Von D.
On February 5, 2007, Frank Iero married his longtime girlfriend, Jamia Nestor. They had twin girls on September 7, 2010. On April 6, 2012, they welcomed their son.
On October 13, 2016, Frank Iero was in a car accident in Sydney, Australia. A bus hit him and his bandmates while they were unloading their van. Frank was dragged about 10 feet. He later said that a large backpack he was wearing helped save his life. He had to cancel all his remaining concerts for 2016. He said, "It's incredible to me that we're all still alive. No one that witnessed the accident thought that we would be."
After the 2016 United States presidential election, Frank Iero shared his feelings on Twitter. He tweeted, "I feel sad and ashamed. This morning, all I could say to my kids when they woke up was 'I'm so sorry.'"
