Goumoens-le-Jux was once a small town, or municipality, in Switzerland. It was located in the Gros-de-Vaud District within the Vaud area. In 2011, Goumoens-le-Jux joined with two other towns, Éclagnens and Goumoens-la-Ville, to form a new, larger town called Goumoëns.

A Look Back: History of Goumoens-le-Jux
Goumoens-le-Jux was first written about in the year 1447. Back then, it was known as Gumoens lo Jux. During an older time in Switzerland, called the Ancien Régime, the town was also known by another name: Le Craux.

In 2009, Goumoens-le-Jux covered an area of about 1.28 square kilometers. A large part of this land, almost half (46.9%), was used for farming. Forests covered about 32% of the area. The remaining land (21.1%) had buildings or roads. A small part (3.1%) was made up of rivers or lakes.
Most of the developed land was for parks and sports fields (17.2%). All the forested land was made up of thick forests. For farming, 30.5% was used for growing crops. The rest was used for pastures. All the water in the town came from flowing rivers.
Goumoens-le-Jux was part of the Échallens District until 2006. After that, it became part of the new Gros-de-Vaud District. The town is located in the Gros-de-Vaud region. It sits on the right side of the Talent river.

The official symbol, or coat of arms, of Goumoens-le-Jux is quite special. It shows a red cross on a silver background. On the cross, there is a gold star with a hole in the middle. Around the star, there are four gold scallop shells.
