What Does a Governor Do?
The Governor has many important duties. They make sure the state government follows the rules of the Constitution of India. They also appoint the Chief Minister and other ministers. The Governor also has a role in approving laws passed by the state assembly.

The Governor lives in a special house called the Raj Bhavan, Bhopal. This is their official residence in the capital city, Bhopal. They also have a summer residence in Pachmarhi.
Who Has Been Governor?
Many important people have served as the Governor of Madhya Pradesh since the state was formed. The first Governor was Pattabhi Sitaramayya. The current Governor is Mangubhai C. Patel. Sometimes, a Governor from another state might take on an "additional charge." This means they temporarily look after Madhya Pradesh too.
