Granges (pronounced like "Grahnj"), officially known as Granges (Veveyse), is a small town in Switzerland. It is part of the Veveyse district in the canton of Fribourg.

History of Granges
Granges was first mentioned in old writings in the year 1134. Back then, it was called per campos Grangiarum.
Geography of Granges
Granges covers an area of about 4.5 square kilometers (1.7 square miles). A large part of this land, about 69%, is used for farming. This means there are many fields and pastures.
About 20% of the area is covered by forests. The rest, about 11%, has buildings and roads. Most of the built-up areas are homes and other buildings.
The town is located in the Veveyse district. It sits on the northern side of a mountain called Mont-Pèlerin.

The coat of arms for Granges has a special design. It is divided into four sections. The top-left and bottom-right sections show a black Ibex (a type of wild goat). It stands on green hills.
The other two sections, top-right and bottom-left, show a green pine tree. This tree grows from black hills.
