Grizzly Peak is a very tall mountain in the Rocky Mountains of North America. It's part of the Collegiate Peaks in the Sawatch Range. This mountain is about 4,265.6 meters (13,995 feet) high.
Grizzly Peak is located in Colorado, United States. It sits right on the Continental Divide of the Americas. This means it helps separate San Isabel National Forest in Chaffee County from White River National Forest in Pitkin County.

Grizzly Peak is known for being the highest mountain in the United States that is just under 14,000 feet. Mountains over 14,000 feet are called "fourteeners." Grizzly Peak is often called the highest "thirteener" in the country.
For a while, people thought Grizzly Peak was over 14,000 feet tall. But newer and more accurate measurements showed it was just a little bit shorter.
What is Grizzly Peak Made Of?
The rocks that make up Grizzly Peak were formed a very long time ago. They are from a period called the Oligocene Epoch. This was about 24 to 33 million years ago! The mountain is made of andesite lava flows and breccias. These are types of rocks formed from ancient volcanic activity.
