Eurostar is a special high-speed train service. It connects major cities in Western Europe. You can travel from London in the United Kingdom to Paris and Lille in France. It also goes to Brussels in Belgium.
Eurostar also offers trips to Disneyland Paris. This is at Gare de Marne-la-Vallée - Chessy. During certain seasons, you can also travel to other places in France. All Eurostar trains travel under the English Channel. They do this through a special underwater tunnel called the Channel Tunnel.
What is Eurostar?
Eurostar trains are very fast. They can travel up to 300 kilometers per hour (186 mph). The service uses special 18-carriage trains called Class 373 trains. These trains run on a network of high-speed railway lines.
Since Eurostar started in 1994, new lines have been built. These new lines help trains travel even faster. For example, a new line was built in Belgium called HSL 1. Another one was built in Southern England called High Speed 1. These lines are just as good as the LGV Nord line in France. They help make journeys shorter.
Journey Improvements
A big project called the Channel Tunnel Rail Link made travel even better. It was finished in two stages. On November 14, 2007, a major change happened. The main Eurostar station in London moved. It moved from Waterloo International to St Pancras International station. This new station is modern and helps trains run more smoothly.
