Han Geng (born February 9, 1984) is a famous Chinese singer and actor. He is known for his music and acting roles. Han Geng started his career in 2001. He was chosen by a big entertainment company called S.M. Entertainment. He became a member of the South Korean boy band Super Junior in 2005. Later, he led a part of the group called Super Junior-M in 2008.
In 2009, Han Geng decided to leave S.M. Entertainment. He wanted to start his own solo career in China. His departure from the company was made official in 2011. Han Geng has also helped share Chinese culture with the world. He carried the torch for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He was also an ambassador for the 2010 Shanghai Expo and the 2010 Asian Games. He has won international awards, like the "Best Worldwide Act" at the 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards. He also won "Favorite Asian Act" at Nickelodeon's 2013 Kids' Choice Awards.

Early Life and Training
Han Geng was born in Mudanjiang, China. His family is from the Nanai group. He went to Guang Hua Elementary School from 1990 to 1996.
When he was 12, Han Geng joined the dance program at the Central University for Nationalities in Beijing. He left his family to study dance. At the university, he learned many traditional dances. He also trained in ballet and martial arts. He performed in different countries, including the United States and Russia. In 1999, he represented the Nanai people in a special parade in China.
Career Highlights
Starting His Career
In December 2001, Han Geng tried out for an audition. It was hosted by S.M. Entertainment. After the audition, he worked as an actor in small Chinese films. This helped him earn money before college. In 2002, S.M. Entertainment accepted him. After graduating from university, he went to Korea. He took lessons in singing, dancing, and acting. He also learned the Korean language.
Joining Super Junior
On February 6, 2005, Han Geng officially joined Super Junior. It was a new boy band. He was part of its first group, Super Junior 05. In March 2008, he was chosen to carry the torch for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He also sang the Olympic theme song "Beijing Welcomes You".
On April 8, 2008, a new group called Super Junior-M started. Han Geng became its leader. This group released their first Chinese album, Me, in May 2008. In 2009, Han Geng acted in a TV show called Stage of Youth. This was his first acting role. On December 21, 2009, Han Geng decided to end his contract with S.M. Entertainment. He stopped working with Super Junior and Super Junior-M.
Solo Music and Movies
On July 27, 2010, Han Geng released his first solo album. It was called The Heart of Geng. The album had ten songs. The main song was "My Logo". Famous dancers who worked with Michael Jackson helped create the dance for this song. The Heart of Geng became very popular in Asia. It sold over 350,000 copies in just two months. Han Geng also held his first solo concerts in Beijing.
He also started acting in movies. He was in My Kingdom, an action film. He played Deng Xiaoping in The Founding of a Party. He also starred as Hu Han Min in The First President. On July 19, 2012, he released his second album, Hope in the Darkness. He then started his "Hope in the Darkness World Tour".
International Awards and More Acting
On November 11, 2012, Han Geng won a big international award. He won "Best Worldwide Act" at the 2012 MTV Europe Music Awards. On March 24, 2013, he won "Favorite Asian Act" at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards.
He acted in the successful Chinese movie So Young in 2013. He also appeared in Seek McCartney, a Chinese-French film. In 2014, he starred in the romantic comedy Ex-Files. He was praised for his funny acting. He also had a small role in the Hollywood movie Transformers: Age of Extinction. On May 27, 2014, Han Geng won "World's Best Male Artist" at the World Music Awards. He was the first Chinese singer to perform at this event.
In 2015, he starred with Fan Bingbing in Ever Since We Love. In 2016, he was in the film Sweet Sixteen. He also played Sun Wukong in A Chinese Odyssey Part Three. Han Geng also competed in and won the TV show The Amazing Race 2 (China). On November 30, 2015, he released his third album, San Geng. He said this would be his last album. He wanted to focus on acting.
Since then, he has starred in many films and TV shows. These include Hard Memory (2016), The Great Detective (film) (2017), and Reborn (2018). He also became a captain on the hip hop dance show, Street Dance of China. He returned as a captain for seasons 2, 4, and 5 of the show. In 2020, he starred in the drama Still Not Enough. He also appeared in the period drama series "Legacy" in 2021.
Personal Life and Other Activities
In 2013, Han Geng started his own phone brand called "Geng Phone." On May 16, 2014, he rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange. He was a shareholder of a company called Jumei International Holding Limited. He was the first Chinese artist to do this. On September 24, 2014, he launched his eyewear brand, "Burqa Angel."
Han Geng married actress Celina Jade on December 31, 2019, in New Zealand. In September 2022, they had their first child, a daughter.
