Meet the Happy Monster Band
The Happy Monster Band has four main members: Ink, Bluz, L.O., and Frred. Each monster's name matches its color. For example, Ink is pink, Bluz is blue, L.O. is yellow, and Frred is red. Don Carter designed these cool characters. Even though the monsters are kids, the singing voices in the US version are from the band Tally Hall. In the UK version, real children's voices are used for the songs.
Band Members
- Frred is one of the main singers in the band. He also plays the electric guitar. Many fans think Frred is the real leader of the group. His singing voice is by Rob Cantor, and his speaking voice is by Kurt Doss.
- L.O. is the other main singer. He is the oldest monster in the band and plays the bass guitar. L.O. is yellow and loves to paint and draw, which is different from what most monsters are expected to do. He is a bit shy. His voices are Zubin Sedghi (US) and Nathan Simpson (UK).
- Bluz plays the keyboard and has four legs. He is blue and is the youngest member of the band. Bluz sometimes disagrees with L.O., saying monsters should be scary, not artistic. During the "World Tour" season, he doesn't know much about other languages, but he is very kind to others. His singing voice is by Joe Hawley. His speaking voices are Jonah Lees (first season) and Jake T. Austin (second season).
- Ink is the band's drummer. She is pink and has three eyes. Ink mostly sings during the chorus parts of songs, but she has a special solo in "Do the Monster Stomp." In the "World Tour" season, she carries a globe and can speak many languages. Ink is voiced by Hannah Leigh.
Other Characters
The show also features some other fun characters:
- Roc and Raoul are a purple two-headed monster. They are the hosts of the show and always speak in rhyme when on stage. They are voiced by Sam Riegel and Yuri Lowenthal.
- La, Dee, and Da are the show's judges in the first season. They are all bright green and are inspired by famous TV judges.
World Tour Friends
In the "World Tour" season, the band meets new friends around the world:
- Akito is the band's pen pal from Tokyo, Japan.
- Joey is a friendly kangaroo from Sydney, Australia.
- Dwight is a giant monster from Italy. He is often hungry and is used in funny stories to explain why the Leaning Tower of Pisa leans or why parts of the Colosseum are missing.
- Ravi is a very energetic four-year-old boy.
- Johnny and Franklin appear in the "The Monster Tangle" episode.
