The iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus are smartphones made by Apple Inc.. They were first sold on September 25, 2015. These phones replaced the earlier iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus models.

The iPhone 6S and 6S Plus look a lot like the iPhone 6. However, they came in a new color called rose gold. They also had stronger glass on the screen.

Key Features of the iPhone 6S

The iPhone 6S and 6S Plus introduced some cool new features.

3D Touch Technology

One of the biggest new features was called 3D Touch. This allowed the screen to sense how hard you pressed it.

  • A light press might open an app.
  • A harder press could show you quick shortcuts or previews.

For example, you could press harder on an email to see a preview without fully opening it.

Improved Cameras

The cameras on these iPhones got a big upgrade:

  • The main camera on the back was 12 megapixels. This was a jump from the 8-megapixel camera on the iPhone 6. It could even record videos in super clear 4K.
  • The front camera, used for selfies, was improved to 5 megapixels. It also had a "Retina Flash" feature. This made the screen light up to act like a flash in dark places.

Live Photos

A fun new camera feature was Live Photos. When you took a picture, the phone would also record a short video clip from before and after the photo. This made your photos "come alive" when you pressed on them using 3D Touch.

Faster Performance

The iPhone 6S and 6S Plus used a new chip called the Apple A9. This made the phones much faster and smoother. It was better for playing games and using many apps at once. They also had 2 GB of RAM, which helped with multitasking.

Storage Options

When they first came out, you could get these phones with different amounts of storage:

  • 16 GB
  • 32 GB
  • 64 GB
  • 128 GB

This meant you could choose how much space you needed for your apps, photos, and videos.

Models and Sizes

There were two main models:

  • The iPhone 6S had a 4.7 inches (120 mm) screen. It was smaller and lighter.
  • The iPhone 6S Plus had a larger 5.5 inches (140 mm) screen. This made it a "Phablet", which is a phone that's almost as big as a small tablet. The 6S Plus also had optical image stabilization for its main camera, which helped make videos smoother.
