Isobel Bizu Beardshaw (born on April 28, 1994), known as Izzy Bizu, is a talented British-Ethiopian singer and songwriter. She has gained a lot of support from popular radio stations like BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 1Xtra.
Izzy Bizu has performed with famous artists such as Coldplay, Sam Smith, Rudimental, and Foxes. In 2015, she was nominated for a Brit Critics' Choice award. She was also listed as one of the top new artists for BBC's Sound of... 2016. In 2016, she won the BBC Music Introducing Award. She even performed at the famous Glastonbury Festival in June 2016.

About Izzy Bizu
Izzy Bizu grew up in southwest London. Her mother is from Ethiopia, and her father is English. She spent parts of her childhood in Ethiopia and Bahrain before moving to London as a teenager.
She studied music technology in college for a short time. Later, she completed a songwriting course at Point blank music school. This helped her start her music career.
Her Music Journey
Starting Out: Coolbeanz (2013)
After her girl group, SoundGirl, broke up, Izzy Bizu won an open mic night in February 2013. Many people were impressed, including famous artists like Emeli Sande.
In September 2013, she released her first independent music collection, called an EP, titled Coolbeanz. It quickly became popular, reaching number 3 on the iTunes Soul and R&B Chart. Her song "White Tiger" from the EP was also chosen as a 'Next Hype' track by Zane Lowe. Later that year, she opened shows for Sam Smith and Jamie Cullum.
First Album: A Moment of Madness (2014–2016)
In January 2014, Izzy Bizu entered the Glastonbury Festival's Emerging Talent Competition. She made it to the final eight and performed live. She was the runner-up, winning money and a chance to perform at Glastonbury Festival that year.
In June 2014, BBC Introducing also chose her to perform at Glastonbury. In July 2014, she signed with Epic Records UK. A year later, she released her first songs from her debut album, "Adam & Eve" and "Diamond." These songs were played on BBC Radio 1 and Radio 2. She performed at Glastonbury for the second time.
In September 2015, after releasing her song "Give Me Love," she appeared on the TV show Later... with Jools Holland. She also toured with Rudimental and Foxes. Her first album, A Moment of Madness, came out on September 2, 2016. In April 2016, Izzy Bizu recorded a new version of the song "La Foule" for the BBC's coverage of the Euro 2016 Football Tournament.
Izzy Bizu also sang on Milky Chance's song "Bad Things" in 2017. She also worked with Kungs and David Guetta on their 2024 song "All Night Long."
Recent Work (2016–Present)
Izzy Bizu is an ambassador for Studio Samuel. This is a non-profit group that helps girls in Ethiopia through education and job training.
She is currently signed with Hi-Tea Records. This is part of the Logan Media Entertainment music label in the UK. She also works as a music producer there. In the United States, she is represented by Sony's RED MUSIC label.
Her Life Outside Music
Izzy Bizu once wanted to be a veterinarian. However, she started pursuing music after being discovered during an audition for a teenage girl band when she was 15.
She enjoys skateboarding. She learned this hobby from her former boyfriend and guitarist, Mika Barroux. She often visits her mother's home country of Ethiopia with her family to volunteer. Izzy Bizu has shared that she is not a fan of rollercoaster rides.
Her Musical Style
Izzy Bizu loves jazz-fusion music. She grew up listening to artists like Whitney Houston, Ella Fitzgerald, and James Brown. She also gets inspiration from newer artists like Amy Winehouse and Adele.
Her music blends soul, funk, jazz, and pop. She also lists The Black Keys, Diana Ross, and Sam Cooke as influences. Her Ethiopian background also plays a part in her music. She hopes to work with artists like Anderson .Paak and Kendrick Lamar someday.
