Jake Bugg, whose real name is Jake Edwin Charles Kennedy, is a talented singer and songwriter from England. He was born on February 28, 1994.
His first album, called Jake Bugg, came out in October 2012. It quickly became the number one album in the UK! He worked with songwriter Iain Archer on some of the songs.
Jake's second album, Shangri La, was released in November 2013. His third album, On My One, came out in June 2016. He produced most of this album himself.
In September 2017, he released his fourth album, Hearts That Strain. This album featured more acoustic songs and was produced by Dan Auerbach. After a few years, Jake released his fifth album, Saturday Night, Sunday Morning, in August 2021. This album had a more pop sound.
His most recent album, A Modern Day Distraction, was released in October 2024.

Jake's Early Life and Music Journey
Jake Bugg was born in Nottingham, England. His parents were both musical, but they separated when he was young. Jake grew up in a place called the Clifton council estate.
He started playing guitar when he was 12 years old. His uncle Mark first showed him how to play. Jake went to Farnborough School Technology College.
A special moment for Jake was hearing Don McLean's song "Vincent (Starry, Starry Night)". He heard it on an episode of The Simpsons when he was 12. This song really inspired him.
Jake took a music technology course, but he left school at 16. By then, he was already writing and performing his own songs.

Starting Out in 2011
Jake Bugg got a big break when he was chosen to play at the 2011 Glastonbury Festival. He was only 16! He had sent his songs to the "BBC Introducing" stage.
After that, he signed with Mercury Records. His songs started playing on BBC Radio. One of his songs, "Country Song", was even used in a TV ad for Greene King beer.
Debut Album: Jake Bugg (2012)
Jake's first album, Jake Bugg, came out on October 15, 2012. Critics praised his amazing talent. They said he mixed old folk music with new rock sounds.
On October 21, 2012, his song "Two Fingers" reached number 28 in the UK charts. The album itself went all the way to number one! It sold over 600,000 copies in the UK.
Jake also appeared on the BBC music show Later... with Jools Holland in May 2012. He supported Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds at a festival in Belfast. His song "Simple As This" was later featured in the movie The Fault in Our Stars.
Second Album: Shangri La (2013)
Jake worked on his second album in Malibu with famous producer Rick Rubin. He also worked with Iain Archer again. Chad Smith from the Red Hot Chili Peppers even played drums on some songs, like "Broken".
On September 8, 2013, Jake tweeted that his second album was finished. He announced the new album, Shangri La, on September 23, 2013. The album was named after the studio where he recorded it.
Shangri La was released on November 18, 2013. It featured drummers like Pete Thomas and Chad Smith. The album received many good reviews. Jake was nominated for a "British Breakthrough Act" award at the 2013 Brit Awards.
Jake played on the main Pyramid Stage at the 2013 Glastonbury Festival. This was special because he had moved from a smaller stage to the main one in just two years! He also supported The Rolling Stones in London. His song "Me and You" was in the movie Dumb and Dumber To.
Third Album: On My One (2016)
In early 2015, Jake shared that he was working on his third album. He said the songs were "much darker" than his previous work. On February 16, 2016, he released a new song called "On My One" for free.
His new single, "Gimme the Love", was first played on BBC Radio 1 on February 25. Jake announced that his album, also called On My One, would be released on June 17, 2016. He also shared the list of songs and the album cover.
Jake's 2012 song "Trouble Town" became the theme song for the BBC TV series Happy Valley.
Fourth Album: Hearts That Strain (2017)
On August 2, 2017, Jake Bugg's new song "How Soon the Dawn" was played on BBC Radio 1. He released the song with a music video on August 4. He then announced his fourth album, Hearts That Strain.
The album was released on September 1, 2017. Jake went on an acoustic tour in November to support it. He also released a song called "Waiting" with Noah Cyrus, which featured a lot of piano.
In December 2018, Jake signed with RCA, a record label under Sony. This was a step to help restart his career.
Fifth Album: Saturday Night, Sunday Morning (2021)
On October 26, 2020, Jake released the single "All I Need". This song followed "Rabbit Hole" and "Saviours Of The City", which was his first new music of 2020. He also released a short film with "All I Need".
On March 19, 2021, it was announced that Jake's fifth album, Saturday Night, Sunday Morning, would be released in August 2021. It included songs like "All I Need" and "Kiss Like the Sun". This was his first album with the Sony RCA label.
Jake joined Liam Gallagher and John Squire as a special guest on their international tour in March 2024. He also played guitar on the Johnny Blue Skies album Passage du Desir in 2024.
Sixth Album: A Modern Day Distraction (2024)
Jake Bugg released his sixth album, A Modern Day Distraction, on October 4, 2024. It was released under RCA Records. The album was first announced in May 2024.
This album features lots of guitars and has a "lively, spontaneous feel." It includes hints of rock and pop.
Jake also announced tour dates for the "Modern Day Distraction U.S. tour". The tour had four shows in October, just after the album came out. The first song written for the album, "Zombieland", was also its lead single.
Jake has even mentioned that he started working on his seventh album just weeks before A Modern Day Distraction was released!
Jake's Personal Life and Interests
In 2017, it was reported that Jake Bugg was in a relationship with model Roxy Horner. They later separated after two years.
Jake is a big fan of his local football team, Notts County. In June 2017, he became a shirt sponsor for the team for one month. In September 2020, the club announced that Jake would sponsor their away shirt for the 2020–2021 season.
