Starting His Fashion Career
First Steps in Paris
After graduating in 1996, Scott moved to Paris, France. He faced challenges while looking for a job in fashion. He decided to create his own brand.
In 1997, his brand, Jeremy Scott, had its first show in a bar in Paris. The show was inspired by a book and film called Crash. Many of the clothes were made from paper hospital gowns.
His next show used fabric scraps that looked like garbage bags. These were all black. Scott described it as "Blade Runner, trash bags and the apocalypse." This collection was later shown in a famous Parisian shop called Colette. They have sold Jeremy Scott designs ever since.
His third collection was all white. It was a big success and won awards. It caught the eye of famous fashion people like Mario Testino. The supermodel Devon Aoki first walked the runway in this show. She was only 13 years old.
The singer Björk was an early fan. She wore an angel dress from the white show on her world tour. Scott designed costumes for several of her tours.
In 1998, Scott made a show about the 1980s. It featured shoulder pads, big hair, and gold fabrics. This was one of the first times a designer brought back the 1980s style. Some fashion critics did not like it at first.
His 1998 spring collection was called "Duty Free Glamour." It had looks inspired by flight attendants. It also featured khaki jackets covered in logos. A fashion critic noted how Scott used his Midwestern background in his designs.
Working with Adidas
Scott became known as a unique designer with many fans, especially in Asia. In 2006, he started working with Longchamp. This company makes leather bags.

His Moschino Fall/Winter 2016 collection was inspired by an event in Florence from 1497. Dresses featured broken mirrors and parts of a destroyed piano. Some dresses even had smoke machines inside them.
Scott also created a TV commercial for the Moschino Barbie doll. He wrote and directed it. It was special because it was the first Barbie commercial to feature a boy. For the Moschino Spring/Summer 2017 collection, Scott explored how much people look at 2D screens. He used tricks to make clothes look 2D, like paper dolls.
