Julian Green: Soccer Star
Julian Green's journey in soccer began at a young age. He quickly showed great talent, leading him to play for top clubs and even his national team.
Early Life and Career Beginnings
Julian Green was born in Tampa, Florida, USA. His father is American and his mother is German. When he was two years old, he moved to Germany with his mother. This meant he could play for either the United States or Germany's national soccer teams. Both countries wanted him to play for them!
Playing for Bayern Munich
On November 8, 2013, Julian signed a professional contract with Bayern Munich. This meant he would stay with the club until 2017. He made his first professional game on November 27, 2013. This was in a UEFA Champions League match against CSKA Moscow. He came into the game in the 88th minute.
He was also part of Bayern's team for the 2013 FIFA Club World Cup. He ended the 2013–14 season having played one Champions League game. He also scored 15 goals in 23 games for Bayern's reserve team.
Loan to Hamburger SV
On September 1, 2014, Julian Green went on loan to Hamburger SV for the 2014–15 season. This meant he would play for them for a year. During this time, he also played some games for Hamburger SV's reserve team. This helped him get more playing time and stay fit.
Back at Bayern
Julian returned to Bayern Munich in August 2015. He played for their reserve team again. In October, he scored three goals in one game! This is called a hat-trick.
In December, he played a Champions League game for Bayern's main team. This was his first game with the main team in over two years. The new manager, Carlo Ancelotti, included him in the team for the next season. Green scored another hat-trick in a friendly game against Inter Milan.
On October 26, 2016, Green scored his first official goal for Bayern. It was in a cup game against FC Augsburg. This made him the first American player to score for the famous club.
Moving to VfB Stuttgart
On December 21, 2016, Julian Green moved to VfB Stuttgart. This club plays in the 2. Bundesliga, which is Germany's second division. He signed a contract for two and a half years. He played his first game for Stuttgart on January 29. A few days later, he scored his first goal for them. He played ten games that season. His team won the league title and moved up to the top division!
Joining Greuther Fürth
On August 31, 2017, Green was loaned to SpVgg Greuther Fürth. They were also in the second division. On May 13, 2018, he scored a very important goal. This goal helped his team avoid being moved down to the third division. He scored three goals in 24 games that season.
After his loan ended, Green decided to stay with Greuther Fürth. He signed a permanent contract with them on June 17, 2018. He has been a key player for them ever since.
Playing for His Country: USA
Julian Green has represented the United States on the international stage. He has played in big tournaments like the World Cup.
Choosing His National Team

In 2014, he decided to play for the United States senior team. He said, "I was born in Florida and my father still lives there, so I have deep roots in the U.S. I'm very proud to be representing the United States." FIFA, the world soccer organization, approved his choice. He made his first game for the USA on March 26, 2014, in a friendly match against Mexico.
World Cup Hero
Julian Green was chosen for the United States team for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. On July 1, he made history.
