Julian Wesley Green was born on June 6, 1995. He is an American professional soccer player. Julian plays as a midfielder for the club Greuther Fürth in Germany.
He started his professional journey at Bayern Munich. He was part of the team that won the 2013 FIFA Club World Cup. After playing a few games for Bayern and a loan spell at Hamburger SV, he joined VfB Stuttgart in January 2017. His team won the 2. Bundesliga in his first season there. He then played on loan for Greuther Fürth during the 2017–18 2. Bundesliga season. He signed with them permanently in the summer of 2018.
Julian Green played for both Germany and the United States as a youth player. He made his first appearance for the senior United States team in March 2014. He was chosen for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. There, he became the youngest American to score a goal in the tournament. He was also the youngest player overall to score in the 2014 World Cup.

Julian Green's Club Career
Playing for Bayern Munich
On November 8, 2013, Julian Green signed a professional contract with Bayern Munich. This contract kept him at the club until 2017. He made his first professional appearance on November 27, 2013. This was during a UEFA Champions League game against CSKA Moscow. He came on as a substitute in the 88th minute.
Julian was also part of Bayern's team for the 2013 FIFA Club World Cup. He joined as a replacement for an injured player. He finished the 2013–14 season with one Champions League game. He also scored 15 goals in 23 games for the reserve team. Green was then listed as a member of the main team for the 2014–15 season.
Loan to Hamburger SV
On September 1, 2014, Julian Green went on loan to Hamburger SV. This loan was for the 2014–15 season.
In February 2015, a German newspaper reported that Green had been moved to Hamburger SV II. This is HSV's reserve team. Green had not played much for the first team. He denied the report. The club said he would play with the reserve team sometimes to get more game time. He still trained with the main team.
Returning to Bayern
On August 20, 2015, Green was moved back to FC Bayern Munich II. He played his first game of the season the next day. He played as a right back. On October 23, he scored three goals in one game.
Green played in a Champions League match for Bayern Munich in December. This was against Dinamo Zagreb. It was his first game with the main team in over two years.
Julian returned to the first team when Carlo Ancelotti became the new manager. Ancelotti included him in the team for preseason games. During a game in the U.S. tour, Green scored three goals in the first 35 minutes. This helped Munich win 4–1 against Inter Milan.
On October 26, 2016, Green scored his first goal for Bayern in a real game. This was against FC Augsburg in a cup match. He became the first American to score for the club.
Playing for VfB Stuttgart
On December 21, 2016, Green moved to VfB Stuttgart. This is a club in the 2. Bundesliga. He signed a contract for two and a half years. He started playing for them on January 1.
He played his first game on January 29. He scored his first goal eight days later in a 2–0 win. He played ten games that season. His team won the league title.
Playing for Greuther Fürth
On August 31, 2017, Green was loaned to SpVgg Greuther Fürth. This team is also in the second division. On May 13, 2018, he scored a very important goal. This goal helped his team avoid being moved down to a lower league. He scored three goals in 24 games that season.
Julian Green stayed with Greuther Fürth after his loan ended. He signed a permanent two-year contract on June 17, 2018.
On August 12, 2023, Julian Green experienced a difficult situation during a match. This happened while he was playing against Hallescher FC.
Julian Green's International Career
Youth Teams
Julian Green was born in Tampa, Florida, United States. His father is American and his mother is German. His mother moved back to Germany with him when he was two years old. Because of his parents, he could play for either the United States or German national teams. Both countries wanted him to play for them.
He started his international career with Germany's U16 and U17 teams. In September 2012, Green played for the United States U18 team. He scored a goal in a 4–2 win against the Netherlands.
Green also played for Germany's U19 team. He played in the qualifying games for a European championship.
In November 2013, Julian was asked to join the United States senior team. However, he said he was not ready to make a decision yet. He chose to play for the German U19 team instead.
Playing for the U.S. Men's Team
Green trained with the United States team in March 2014. On March 18, he decided to play for the U.S. team. He had played for both Germany and the United States at youth levels because he had dual citizenship.
Julian explained his choice to play for the United States. He said, "I was born in Florida and my father still lives there. So, I have strong connections to the U.S. I am very proud to play for the United States." On March 24, FIFA approved his decision. This made him able to play for the United States. Two days later, he was called up for his first senior national team game. He made his debut in a 2–2 draw against Mexico.
Green was chosen for the United States team for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. This was on May 12, 2014. He was named to the final 23-player squad on May 22. On July 1, Green made history. He became the youngest player from the United States to score in the World Cup. He scored with his first touch of the ball, less than two minutes after coming into the game. This was against Belgium in the round of 16. With that goal, he also became the youngest player to score at that World Cup.
