Katherine "Kathy" Lawrence (born December 11, 1954 – died March 25, 2004) was a talented American writer. She wrote for many TV shows, short stories, science fiction tales, and even video games! She also wrote non-fiction educational books for children.

Katherine Selbert was born on December 11, 1954. She later chose "Lawrence" as her writing name. She admired two other writers, T. E. Lawrence and Jerome Lawrence, and used their names for inspiration.

Kathy studied English at the University of Washington in Seattle. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree there. She also lived with chronic fatigue syndrome, a condition that causes extreme tiredness.

In 1996, Kathy was recognized for her amazing work. She was nominated for an "Outstanding Script" award by the Writers Guild of America. This was for an episode called "Icebound" from the TV show Hypernauts. Hypernauts was a live-action science fiction series.

Kathy Lawrence passed away when she was 49 years old. Her ashes were spread over Mount Lemmon, a place she loved very much.
