Khawaja Muhammad Asif (Urdu: خواجہ محمد آصف) is a well-known politician from Pakistan. He was born on August 9, 1949. He currently holds important roles as the Minister of Defence and Minister for Aviation. This means he helps make big decisions about Pakistan's safety and air travel.

Early Life and Education
Khawaja Muhammad Asif was born on August 9, 1949, in Sialkot, Punjab. His father, Khawaja Muhammad Safdar, was an important politician. His family originally came from Kashmir many generations ago.
He went to Cadet College Hasan Abdal for his early schooling. He later earned a bachelor's degree from Government College University in Lahore. In 1970, he completed his law degree from the University Law College, Lahore. He also earned a Master's degree in Economics from the London School of Economics in 1975.
Khawaja Asif worked as a banker in the United Arab Emirates for several years. After his father passed away in 1991, he returned to Pakistan to continue his father's work in politics. He has a son and three daughters. In 2007, he received a special honorary degree in international relations.
Political Career Highlights
Khawaja Asif started his political journey in 1991. He was elected to the Senate of Pakistan as a member of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N) party. In 1993, he was elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan from Sialkot.
He was re-elected to the National Assembly in 1997, 2002, 2008, 2013, 2018, and again in 2024. This shows how much people trust him to represent them. In 2019, he became the leader of the PML-N party in the National Assembly.
Important Government Roles
Khawaja Asif has held many key positions in the Pakistani government:
- 1997-1999: He was the chairman of the Privatization Commission of Pakistan. This role involved helping the government sell off some of its businesses.
- 2008: He briefly served as the Minister of Petroleum and Natural Resources and also as the Minister for Sports.
- 2013-2017: He was appointed as the Minister of Water and Power. Later, he also took on the role of Minister of Defence.
