Lilian Garcia was born on August 19, 1966, in the Panama Canal Zone. When she was just three months old, her family moved to Spain. She lived in Spain for eight years because her father worked for the American Embassy. She went to school on an American military base there. Because of her family's military background, she often calls herself a "military brat." Lilian speaks both English and Spanish fluently.
After returning to the United States, Lilian graduated from Irmo High School in Columbia, South Carolina. She then attended the University of South Carolina, where she graduated with honors.
Before her wrestling career, Lilian was a top-ten finalist in the Miss South Carolina beauty pageant. She also worked in radio as a popular morning show host in Columbia, South Carolina. Later, she had her own show during drive time. She was also a VJ (video jockey) in Atlanta, Georgia, and hosted karaoke nights.
Singing Career
Lilian Garcia started singing when she was a young child in Madrid, Spain. She and her sister began entering singing contests when Lilian was five years old. As a teenager, she sang with a band in clubs around Columbia, South Carolina. Her mother would go with her to these performances. In 1990, she appeared as a singer in the movie Modern Love.
Besides her announcing duties, Lilian often sang the national anthem of the United States of America before most Monday Night Raw shows. She did this from February 2000 until she left in August 2016. She also sang "America the Beautiful" at WrestleMania 2000, WrestleMania 21, and WrestleMania XXVIII. She holds the record for the most musical performances at WrestleMania with three.
After joining WWE, Lilian became a popular performer at many professional sports events. She sang for the National Football League, the National Basketball Association, the National Hockey League, and Major League Baseball. She also performed at the 1996 Summer Olympics and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. She even opened for the famous singer James Brown.
Lilian's first song, "Shout," was released in October 2002 and reached No. 69 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. She also recorded Torrie Wilson's entrance theme, "Need A Little Time," for the WWE Anthology album in 2002. She co-wrote "You Just Don't Know Me At All," which became her own entrance theme, released on the WWE Originals album in 2004.
In 2005, Lilian started working on her first solo album. She worked with Grammy Award-winning producers. Her album, ¡Quiero Vivir!, which means "I Want to Live!" in Spanish, was released on October 9, 2007. She helped write 11 songs on the album, including three with Jon Secada, who also sings with her on "Adonde." The album has 10 Spanish songs and two English ones. The title track, "¡Quiero Vivir!", became her entrance theme.
After leaving WWE in 2016, Lilian started working on another album. She released an EP called My Time on August 17, 2012. This EP has six English songs. To promote My Time, Lilian released her first music video for "U Drive Me Loca" in December 2011.
