Lincolnton is a small city in Georgia, United States. It is the main town and county seat of Lincoln County. In 2020, about 1,480 people lived there. Lincolnton has many old houses and historic areas that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Both the city and the county are named after General Benjamin Lincoln, who was an important leader in the American Revolution.

History of Lincolnton
Lincolnton was started in 1798. It became the main town for the new Lincoln County. Later, it officially became a town in 1817 and then a city in 1953.
Geography and Location
Lincolnton is located in the middle of Lincoln County. You can find it at these coordinates: 33°47′40″N 82°28′35″W.
U.S. Route 378 goes through the center of town. This road is called Washington Street in Lincolnton. If you go southwest on this road, you'll reach Washington, which is about 17 miles away. If you go northeast, you'll get to McCormick, South Carolina, about 14 miles away.
Other roads connect Lincolnton to nearby cities:
- Georgia State Route 79 goes northwest to Elberton, about 38 miles away.
- State Route 43 goes south to Thomson, about 24 miles away.
- Augusta is about 39 miles southeast. You can get there using State Routes 47 and 104.
A historical park called Elijah Clark State Park is about 7 miles northeast of Lincolnton. It is located near the Savannah River.
The city of Lincolnton covers a total area of about 3.5 square miles (9.1 square kilometers). Most of this area is land. A very small part, about 0.01 square miles (0.03 square kilometers), is water. The western part of the city drains into Florence Creek, and the eastern part drains into Dry Fork Creek. Both of these creeks flow into Soap Creek, which is part of the Lake Strom Thurmond (also known as Clarks Hill Lake) and the Savannah River system.
