Fun Things to Do in Margate

Summer Fun and Beaches

Margate is a very popular spot in the summer. Many people have second homes here just for the warm months. Unlike some other Jersey Shore towns, Margate doesn't have many hotels. So, most visitors are people who come back year after year.

Margate's beaches are great for surfing, kayaking, and hobie cat sailing. The beaches are not as wide as some others, and they have man-made dunes to help protect them from storms. Lifeguards are on duty during the summer from 10 am to 6 pm. You need to buy a beach tag to use the beaches.

Marinas and Fishing

If you like fishing, Margate has many docks along the bay. You can enjoy relaxing hours of fishing. There are also local boats you can charter for sport or deep-sea fishing. Margate's marinas offer places to dock boats, rent equipment, and buy fuel.
