Michael Alexander Conley Sr. (born October 5, 1962) is an American former track and field athlete. He was best known for competing in the triple jump and the long jump. Mike Conley won many important medals during his career. This includes an Olympic gold medal in 1992. He also won a silver medal in 1984. He earned a gold medal at the 1993 World Championship.
Mike Conley's son, Mike Conley Jr., is also a famous athlete. He plays professional basketball in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Mike Conley's Athletic Career
Mike Conley was a top athlete in college. He competed for the University of Arkansas. There, he won 9 NCAA titles. These titles were in both the long jump and triple jump.
Conley was ranked as the number one triple jumper in the United States nine times. He also held the world indoor triple jump record for a time. He still holds the U.S. indoor record in the triple jump. This record is 17.76 meters (58 feet, 3.25 inches).
He was ranked as the world's best triple jumper six times. In 1985, he was even ranked 8th in the U.S. for the 200 meter dash. Mike Conley received the USATF Jim Thorpe Award twice. This award is for the best field events athlete in the U.S. In 2004, he was honored by being added to the National Track and Field Hall of Fame.
Basketball Skills and Slam Dunk Contest
Mike Conley was also a good basketball player. He played point guard in high school and for one year in college. He used these skills to win the Foot Locker Celebrity Slam Dunk Contest three times. He won in 1988, 1989, and 1992. In 1992, he made a very long dunk. He dunked from two inches behind the free-throw line! He did this in the final against Olympic long jumper, Mike Powell.
Life After Competing
After retiring from competition, Mike Conley stayed involved in sports. He was the president of World Sport Chicago. This group helps promote sports for young people in Chicago. It was created as a lasting gift from Chicago's bid for the 2016 Olympics.
Before that, he was a director for the Elite Athlete's program. This program was part of USA Track and Field. Currently, he is the chairman of the High Performance committee for USATF.
Conley also leads a Sports Management Group called MMG. He is also the CEO of a company that makes special hydrogen-infused water.
Working as a Sports Agent
Mike Conley is also a registered agent with the NBA. He has helped many young athletes start their professional careers. He represented his son, Mike Conley Jr., when he entered the NBA. He also represented his son's college teammates, Greg Oden and Daequan Cook.
Greg Oden was chosen as the number one player in the 2007 NBA draft. Mike Conley Jr. was picked fourth overall. Daequan Cook was drafted 21st. Conley also represents University of Arkansas alum Isaiah Joe of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Mike Conley's Family Life
Mike Conley is married to René Corbin Conley. They have four children. His son, Mike Conley Jr., is a point guard for the Minnesota Timberwolves. His daughter, Sydney Conley, was an All-American long jumper at the University of Kansas. His other children are Jordan Conley and Jon Conley. Mike Conley also has a younger brother, Steve Conley, who was an American football linebacker.
