A Look Back at Mons' History

Mons got its name from a famous battle. This was the Battle of Mons, which happened in 1914 during World War I. This important battle took place far away in Belgium.

A school once stood in Mons. It opened on February 7, 1916, as Buderim Road State School. Soon after, it was renamed Mons State School. This school served the community until it closed its doors in 1974.

There was also a special place called the Forest Glen Deer Sanctuary. It was located on the Tanawha Tourist Drive. This sanctuary was a home for deer for many years. Later, the land was changed and became a private mansion.
