Monument Peak is a mountain in California. It is located in the San Francisco Bay Area. You can find it southeast of Fremont and northeast of Milpitas. This peak is an important part of the local landscape.

Exploring Monument Peak's Location

Monument Peak is part of the Diablo Range. This is a long chain of mountains. It forms a natural border between two counties: Alameda County and Santa Clara County. Other nearby mountains include Mount Allison and Mission Peak.

Visiting the Summit

The top of Monument Peak is just inside the southern part of Mission Peak Regional Preserve. This is a large park in Alameda County. You can reach the summit by hiking. Trails start from Ed R. Levin County Park to the south. You can also use the Bay Area Ridge Trail from the north.

The Monument Peak Antenna

An important antenna stands on Monument Peak. It was built on July 1, 1988. This tall structure used to broadcast TV channels. These included channels 36 (KICU) and 54 (KQEH, a PBS station). The antenna stopped broadcasting these channels on January 17, 2018.

Antenna's Height and View

The antenna is very tall. It stands 605.2 feet (about 184.4 meters) above the ground. If you look at pictures of the peak, the Monument Peak antenna is usually the tallest one you can see. The peak itself is right next to this antenna. Another antenna on Mount Allison is often visible nearby.
