Morfydd Clark (born March 17, 1990) is a talented Welsh actress. She is widely known for her role as Galadriel in the exciting Amazon Prime series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, which started in 2022. She also earned many awards and nominations for her amazing acting in the movie Saint Maud (2019). This included a BAFTA Cymru award and nominations for the BIFA and the BAFTA Rising Star Award.
Morfydd Clark has appeared in other films like Love & Friendship (2016), Interlude in Prague (2017), and The Personal History of David Copperfield (2019). On television, she played Mina Harker in Dracula (2020) and Sister Clara in His Dark Materials (2019).

Early Life and Education
Morfydd Clark was born in Sweden on March 17, 1989. When she was two years old, her family moved to Penarth, Wales. Her father was from Northern Ireland, and her mother's family was from North Wales. Morfydd has a younger sister named Siwan.
Her parents spoke English at home. However, her grandparents spoke Welsh. This led Morfydd to attend a Welsh language school called Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Morgannwg. Because of this, she can speak both English and Welsh fluently.
Morfydd's first acting experience was in a school play called Under Milk Wood. She played a character named Mrs Dai Bread. She faced challenges with dyslexia and ADHD. Because of this, she left school when she was sixteen. Later, she completed her A Levels in English and mathematics at Kings Monkton School in Cardiff. In 2009, she joined the British Youth Music Theatre and the National Youth Theatre of Wales. After that, she trained to be an actress at the Drama Centre London.
Acting Career
Early Roles (2014-2021)
Morfydd Clark left drama school early to star in a play called Blodeuwedd. She performed with Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru, a Welsh theatre company. She also appeared in plays like Violence and Son at the Royal Court and Romeo and Juliet at the Crucible Theatre. She was also in Les Liaisons Dangereuses at the Donmar Warehouse.
In 2016, Morfydd was recognized as one of Screen International's Stars of Tomorrow. This was for her promising early work in TV and theatre. She acted in the film The Call Up. She also played Cordelia in King Lear at The Old Vic theatre. In 2017, she starred in Interlude In Prague. She also played Catherine Dickens in The Man Who Invented Christmas.
In 2019, she appeared in several films. These included Crawl, The Personal History of David Copperfield, and Eternal Beauty. That same year, Morfydd played Maud in the movie Saint Maud. Her performance earned her a nomination for Best Actress at the 2020 British Independent Film Awards. She also won the BAFTA Cymru best actress award for this role. In 2021, she was nominated for the BAFTA Rising Star Award.
Starring in The Rings of Power (2022-Present)
Morfydd Clark took on the role of Galadriel in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. This series is available on Amazon Prime. She plays a younger version of the character from The Lord of the Rings books and movies. Morfydd was so surprised when she got the part that she actually fainted!
Morfydd is very proud that being a Welsh speaker helped her play Galadriel. Galadriel is a character who speaks more than one language. Morfydd said that she feels "more romantic and deep in Welsh." This helped her think about what language Galadriel might think in. She also shared that her mother loved Tolkien's work. Tolkien was inspired by the Welsh language. Morfydd enjoyed speaking Welsh on set with her co-stars Owain Arthur and Trystan Gravelle.
