Morfydd Clark (born on March 17, 1989) is a talented actress from Wales. She has appeared in many films and TV shows. Some of her movies include Love & Friendship (2016) and The Personal History of David Copperfield (2019). On television, she played Mina Harker in Dracula (2020). She also played Sister Clara in His Dark Materials (2019).
Morfydd is very well-known for her role as Maud in the film Saint Maud (2019). For this role, she won an award called BAFTA Cymru. She was also nominated for the BAFTA Rising Star Award. She is also famous for playing Galadriel in the Amazon Prime series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. This show started in 2022.

Early Life and Education
Morfydd Clark was born in Sweden. When she was two years old, her family moved to Penarth, Wales. Her father was from Northern Ireland and Glasgow. Her mother's family came from North Wales. Morfydd also has a younger sister named Siwan.
Her parents spoke English at home. However, her grandparents spoke Welsh. Because of this, Morfydd went to a Welsh language school. It was called Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Morgannwg. She can speak both English and Welsh very well.
Morfydd's first acting role was in a school play. She played Mrs Dai Bread in Under Milk Wood. She faced challenges with dyslexia and ADHD. Because of this, she left school when she was sixteen. Later, she finished her A Levels in English and mathematics. She studied at Kings Monkton School in Cardiff.
In 2009, she joined the British Youth Music Theatre. She was part of their show According to Brian Haw. She also joined the National Youth Theatre of Wales. After that, she trained to be an actress at the Drama Centre London.
Acting Career
Early Roles (2014-2021)
Morfydd left drama school early to act in a play. It was called Blodeuwedd by Saunders Lewis. She performed with Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru. She also acted in Violence and Son at the Royal Court Theatre. She played Juliet in Romeo and Juliet in Sheffield. She also appeared in Les Liaisons Dangereuses.
In 2016, she was named one of Stars of Tomorrow by Screen International. This was for her early work in TV and theatre. She also played Cordelia in King Lear at The Old Vic. In 2017, she starred in Interlude In Prague. She also played Catherine Dickens in The Man Who Invented Christmas.
In 2019, Morfydd was in several films. These included Crawl and The Personal History of David Copperfield. She also starred as Maud in the horror film Saint Maud. For this role, she was nominated for Best Actress. She won the BAFTA Cymru best actress award for her performance.
The Rings of Power (2022-Present)
Morfydd Clark plays the character Galadriel in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. This series is shown on Amazon Prime. She plays a younger version of Galadriel from The Lord of the Rings stories. Morfydd was so surprised when she got the role that she fainted!
Morfydd is proud that being a Welsh speaker helped her play Galadriel. Galadriel is a character who speaks two languages. Morfydd said she feels more "romantic and deep" when speaking Welsh. This helped her think about Galadriel's inner thoughts. She also enjoyed speaking Welsh on set with her co-stars Owain Arthur and Trystan Gravelle.
Morfydd shared that her mother loved the author J.R.R. Tolkien. Tolkien was inspired by the Welsh language. Morfydd went to a Welsh language school. Welsh is a phonetic language, which means it's good for people with dyslexia. She started learning English in her third year of school.
