Morgan Elliot Rogers, born on July 26, 2002, is a talented English football player. He plays as an attacking midfielder or a winger for the Chelsea club and the England national team. Morgan is known for his strength, powerful runs, and amazing ability to score goals from far away. He is also great at controlling the ball.
Morgan grew up in Halesowen and started his football journey at the West Bromwich Albion academy. In 2019, he joined Manchester City. He then played on loan for Lincoln City, Bournemouth, and Blackpool.
In 2023, Morgan moved to Middlesbrough. After a successful half-season, he joined Aston Villa in 2024. He had an amazing season with Villa, earning the Young Player of the Season award. Morgan's Early Life
Morgan Rogers was born in Halesowen. He is the middle of three brothers. His parents are Deborah and Howard Rogers. Morgan has Jamaican family roots through his mother.
He went to Colley Lane Primary and Sandwell Academy. In 2017, Morgan helped his Sandwell team win the National Schools Cup. He scored a goal and helped set up another in the final game. Growing up, Morgan was a big fan of West Bromwich Albion. He was also childhood friends with another famous footballer, Jude Bellingham.
Morgan's Club Journey
Starting at West Bromwich Albion
Morgan joined West Bromwich Albion when he was just seven years old. A club scout noticed his talent. He played his first professional game for West Brom on February 6, 2019. This was in an FA Cup match against Brighton & Hove Albion.
Time at Manchester City
On August 1, 2019, Morgan signed with Manchester City. However, he did not play any games for their main team.
Loan Spells: Learning and Growing
Morgan spent time on loan at different clubs to gain experience.
- Lincoln City: In January 2021, he joined Lincoln City. He scored his first professional goal there against Portsmouth. He even won the EFL Young Player of the Month award in March 2021.
- AFC Bournemouth: In August 2021, Morgan went on loan to Bournemouth. He mostly played as a substitute but scored one goal for the team.
- Blackpool: He joined Blackpool on loan in January 2023. He scored his only goal for them in a win against Norwich City.
Playing for Middlesbrough
On July 7, 2023, Morgan moved to Middlesbrough. He quickly scored his first goal for the club in a friendly game. His first goal in a real competition was in an EFL Cup win against Bolton Wanderers. On February 1, 2024, Morgan joined Premier League club Aston Villa. He made his Premier League debut just two days later. On April 6, 2024, he scored his first goal for Aston Villa.
Morgan had an incredible game on January 29, 2025. He scored three goals, a hat-trick, in a UEFA Champions League match against Celtic! He scored two of those goals in the first five minutes. This made him one of the youngest English players to score a Champions League hat-trick. He also scored a goal against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League quarter-finals.
The 2024–25 season was amazing for Morgan. He scored 14 goals and helped with 15 assists. He was named Aston Villa's Young Player of the Season. In June 2025, Morgan won the PFA Young Player of the Year award. This is a huge honor for young players!
Morgan signed a new contract with Aston Villa in November 2025, keeping him with the club until 2031. On May 20, 2026, he scored in a 3–0 win over SC Freiburg in the Europa League final. Aston Villa won this competition for the first time ever! UEFA also named Morgan the Europa League Player of the Season.
Joining Chelsea
On July 21, 2026, Morgan joined Premier League club Chelsea. The transfer fee of £117 million for Morgan set a new record for an English football player.
Morgan's International Career
Playing for England's Youth Teams
Morgan has proudly represented England at many youth levels. He played for teams from under-15 all the way up to under-21.
In September 2018, Morgan scored a hat-trick for the England under-17 team against Belgium. The next month, he scored against the United States and Brazil. In March 2019, he scored two more goals against Switzerland. He also played in the 2019 UEFA European Under-17 Championship.
Morgan made his debut for the England under-18 team in September 2019. He later played for the England U20s in September 2021. In March 2024, he made his debut for the England U21s.
Playing for the Senior England Team
On November 11, 2024, Morgan was called up to the England senior team for the first time. He made his senior debut on November 14, helping England win 3–0 against Greece. Morgan scored his first goal for England in a friendly match against Wales on October 9, 2025, at Wembley.
On May 22, 2026, Morgan was chosen to be part of the 26-player squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
