The Famous Cross on Mount McCoy
The cross on Mount McCoy has a long history. An old map from 1858 shows that a cross was already there. Later, in 1921, a new cross was put up by Robert E. Harrington. Then, in 1941, a strong concrete cross was built.
This cross has been an important landmark for the area for many years. It was there even before the town of Simi Valley was officially started. Because of its history, Mount McCoy was named Ventura County Landmark No. 106 in 1986.
