Mount Woodrow Wilson is a very tall mountain located in the Wind River Range in the U.S. state of Wyoming. It stands at about 13,502 feet (4,115 m) (4,115 meters) high. This makes it the eighth-highest mountain in its range and the ninth-highest in all of Wyoming.

The top of Mount Woodrow Wilson is found within the Bridger Wilderness area of the Bridger-Teton National Forest. It sits right on the Continental Divide, which is like a giant ridge that separates rivers flowing to the Atlantic Ocean from those flowing to the Pacific. The mountain is about 1.25 miles (2.01 km) (2 kilometers) south of Gannett Peak, which is the highest point in Wyoming.

The sides of Mount Woodrow Wilson are covered with large areas of snow and ice, called glaciers. Some of these include the Dinwoody Glacier to the northeast, the Mammoth Glacier to the west, and the Sphinx Glacier to the south. The mountain was named after Woodrow Wilson, who was a president of the United States.

Staying Safe in the Mountains

Exploring mountains like Mount Woodrow Wilson can be an amazing adventure, but it's super important to be prepared and stay safe. The Wind River Range is a wild place, and there are a few things to keep in mind.

Wildlife Encounters

One thing to be aware of is bears. It's a good idea to know what to do if you see a bear and to keep your food stored safely. Other animals also live here, so always respect their space.

Weather and Terrain

The weather in the mountains can change very quickly. You might face snowy conditions even in summer, and nights can get very cold. It's important to pack warm clothes and be ready for different types of weather. The ground can also be tricky, with steep cliffs and loose rocks. Being careful where you step is key to avoid falls. Sometimes, rocks can fall from above, so always be aware of your surroundings.

Being Prepared

When you go hiking or climbing, it's always best to go with someone else and let others know your plans. Having the right gear, like good shoes, a map, and plenty of water, is also very important. If someone gets hurt, search and rescue teams are there to help, but preventing accidents is always the best approach.
